Description Here is the second horn in the first run of three.

Third horn: [link]

Sorry for the crappy photograph, this was was impossible to get right because the carving isn't inked. This was by the owner's request, though with some persistent nagging he may change his mind.

You may have noticed that this horn is different from the first because it has a black theme instead of brown. The specific colors were chosen to compliment the coloring of the horn itself, and each is beautiful in its own right.

The horn itself is about 20 inches long (I consider this a large size), and holds roughly 16-18 oz of water. The washing and curing process was the same, as well as carving the design with the same chisel. The leather grip again wraps around the horn and laces in back.

Drinking horns are illegal to make? Living in Illinois (which refuses to even make laws about some things rather than ban them) having laws against making things seems atrocious and violating our right to free speech. *grumble* This requires writing letters...

WOW that is stunning!! Are they drinkable? I'm starting a Drinking Horn project myself, (crazy about Vikings ) they say you should soak it in hot water continuously for a few days until the smell goes away and not use bleach cuz it dissolves the horn or something. How did you do it?

Thanks so much! They're totally drinkable.
Don't use bleach, you'll never get that smell out. I used lots of burning hot water and dish soap with bottle brushes and a homemade scrubber. make sure to seal it is wax or resin if you're picky about germs... (I'm not but that's a different story)

Send me lots of pics when you're done!!!!!
All the best,
A.L.

The Celtic horn you have in your gallery is really beautiful. After searching the web and dA for hours, still haven't come across one with the stones or the second ring around the top. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get those ideas?
