I'm pretty sure it's no secret...this is my favorite waterfall in WV!Finally, the snow and ice are mostly melted (there are still a few ice chunks lying to the side of the falls from the giant ice cave that forms here every winter) and I got out for a refreshing hike in my favorite place on earth. Favorite place so far, anyway.

Gorgeous waterfall and lovely shot LeeAnne! I'm actually hoping to stop here in on my way back home from Florida with my wife and kids. Three weeks from today would be when I would get here. I don't know if it's going to be possible but I'm doing my best to try and make happen. All of your beautiful photos have inspired me to want to visit this park. If I do make it is the trail kid friendly at all? My daughter is 4 and my son is only 18 months.

The walk down to the fall is kid friendly. There is a bridge that goes over the top of the falls, so your wife could stay there with the kids while you scramble down the bank to the base of the falls. There are benches and some flatter areas in the woods for the kids to play while they wait. I've taken my son here a few times, even when he was younger. I would really love for you to shoot this fall! The main falls in the park, Blackwater Falls, is very kid friendly. The main access is a boardwalk and stairs, so nothing dangerous at all about that.

Well, because the canyon is extremely steep and rocky, making it very dangerous. Also, it's in the mountains, and the water is still only just above freezing...there's still ice hanging around in some places. That, and there are signs everywhere warning against the dangers of swimming there.

definitely starting to see how the same place has a different personality each time now that im starting to revisit places. sometimes its the place itself that has altered or the mood of the day that lets me see new things in a scape. you really have a knack of connecting and capturing the many personalities of this waterfall and each time it has a new unique individuality..always eager for the new personalities of elakalalaladdala!!
