Everything, all of your experimenting with techniques and themes really comes together in this piece. I sense the bravery and venturing out alone for the first time in a long time..maybe emerging from the fog and chaos. The layering is exquisite, and I've noticed a shift in your use of color in the past few months. It's more..subtle but noticeable..harmonious. Good things can come out of tragedies. I hope your father could find some comfort in this piece.

There's definitely a shift, in color and in composition, too. I find I am cutting out the extraneous. A good thing. My father doesn't recognize that I do art. The piece is displayed prominently, but my dad doesn't see stuff like that.

Laura, I am working on a new series of big pieces, and two of them are centered around the image of "The Ferryman" who escorts us to and from this world, in his boat, with a long black stick. I think your piece is moving and awesome.
I do not know when I will finish my pieces (muse is in charge), but your piece is inspiring me to work on the ferryman works in that series. Your piece really is exquisite and poignant. Enjoying your new blog too... just came back to your page and this piece, via the link on your new blog.
