I'm sure most people who know about the moray eel also know about its secondary jaw (called a pharyngeal jaw) within its throat. This allows the eel to slide its forceps-like jaws up its throat and out of its mouth in order to grab its prey before pulling it down its esophagus. This unique ability allows the moray eel to devour particularly large prey, including small sharks.Many people believe that the Xenomorphs' inner jaw was inspired by the moray eel. However, the truth is, this ability of the moray eel was discovered in 2007, three decades AFTER Giger designed the Xenomorph. In other words, Mother Nature created the Xenomorph BEFORE we thought of it!
