Do you think it will set sail in 2022? I heard the project got canceled. Are they restarting the project?

Is Titanic II having yellow or red funnels in the movie it had red funnels

Lex-the-Pikachu In reply to FTBF [2019-07-07 10:39:43 +0000 UTC]
The movie was a load of bollocks and not true to the real Titanic in anyway, it had the ship hit and iceberg then a tsunami so it was rubbish, it was entirely fake and had nothing to do with the Blue Star Line ordered modernised Titanic. The Titanic II that might be built if nothing else prevents its construction this time, will look as close to the original as possible while keeping to modern build and safety regulations.

Sorry to hear the project flopped but at the same time I'm kinda glad. Simply because it was trying to ride the Titanic's coattails. If they wanted to call it Olympic II I'd have less of an issue. It just seems inappropriate to me to name it after ships involved in tragedies. That's why I wouldn't want to see a Titanic II or Britannic II or a Lusitania II. Olympic, Mauritania, Aquitania...fair game. Even a Normandie II is fine since while the ship was lost, there was no massive loss of life (one guy died as opposed to 1500 or 30 or so).

China is building a replica of Titanic that'll be just a floating hotel landlocked in a themepark though -_-

Nothing major that i'm gonna sail on that thing because of the exact same fate the real Titanic did.

I doubt this ship will ever be built. I had hopes that this ship would be built, but knowing the history of what Clive Palmer does, this project will be aborted, if not already.

Rumor that it's almost ready. Whoever these guys are, they really know how to keep it low-profile. Like, zero-detection low profile.
This is HUGE - the success and failure of this voyage(should it ever happen) will put a permanent mark on their entire country's industry for as long as Humanity exists.

Really? Well, that's a surprise, should this rumor be true.
And, if it IS true, count me out. I have a feeling that naming an ocean liner "Titanic" has bad luck behind it. As cool as it sounds being able to be on a replica of a luxury liner, you're not seeing me go aboard this ship if it's ever gonna exist.

Titanic 2 never left the drawing board. There is no economic model to supports its operation.
If there was, T2 would have been built some time ago.

Did people lose the ability to make the old day ships like Titanic? If so, then Titanic II will probably be made in another way. BUT, it depends

The notion of traveling across the seas by ocean liner was rendered largely obsolete with the advent of the commercial jet airliner.Β Witness the fate of the SS UNITED STATES, one of the fastest and most advanced ocean liners ever built, literally awaiting her turn in the shipbreaker's yard after decades of rusting in 'storage'.Β Air travel is faster and cheaper and has driven the 'ocean liner' into virtual extinction.
Today, passenger ships are largely just 'cruise ships', which usually don't make ocean crossings.Β Β They just head for various vacation destinations and pamper their passengers.Β In fact, the 'old school' ocean liners couldn't carry as many passengers, or provide as many amenities, as the modern cruise ships can.
More's the pity.Β Cruise ships look ungainly and topheavy, in my opinion.Β The older ships like QUEEN MARY, QUEEN ELIZABETH, UNITED STATES, etc. looked sleek and powerful.

its more efficient and effective to weld than rivet. We could build ships in steam ship era designs if we wanted to, but no one wants those anymore

Clive Palmer will never complete this :/ unfortunately, I should know. I live in AUS and Palmer United is doing terribly and he's having money troubles. LegoMinionMinute Β Yeah. Take Titanic, add additional modern lifeboats, better bow thrusters and a whole new rudder and propeller system for significant control so the whole iceberg incident doesn't happen again.
