I told Miakeru that i wouldnt submit this until it was totally finished, however i want to submit it incase my comp dies again tonight (sorry dude). as well someone did i mermaid deviation recently so i decided to throw this up there.It originally started as what i think might be a tattoo design, the guy who requested it of me wasnt sure what he wanted to do with it or at least didnt want to make me think a certain way, he just wanted a few sketches of a mermaid swimming around an anchor chain/tied to an anchor chain/swimming under a galleon (have no idea how to spell that but thank god i know how one looks) but heres the first one, and i sort of finalized it enough so that its more than a sketch so i could post it but there will be a new version, but enjoy, full view might be recommended since im not sure how small it will be without it but try it

this looks good so far. I like the pattern you've done on the mermaid as well as how her tail is sort of like the plants behind her. The chain is very good. Something about her nose doesn't seem right to me though but I'm hardcore nit-picking. I partucularly like the shading lines of the plankton, seaweed stuff.

no its totally cool i really like people who nitpick it gets me to try harder lol, my girlfriend made me do the Takeda Samurai drawing im doing (currently in my scraps) because she wanted me to do some more realism since i hadnt in about a year except the nightcrawler thing.. dude comment more often lol i like it, and thanks alot im glad you liked the things that you did because they were in fact purposely done

the chain took a while and was a pain in the ass, since its very mechanical. the figure flows really easily for me and it only took maybe 20 minutes to draw the mermaid maybe 50mins-60mins for the whole thing - im glad you like it

lol yeah the chain is what i spent the most time on...damn chain, the figure flows well so i can draw it pretty accurately and i find the eraser to be more of a blending tool anyways....what school do you go to?

alot of people on DA seem to go there or maybe its just you and someone who commented on your working being like holy shit, lol its weird...i mean my schools only 960 something students i think but i know at least 4 of us are on DA woo hoo...lol

lol really? I've only ran into 1 person on DA who goes to ECIAD.
Our school is only about 1300 students, so it's pretty small too. But it's like "best" art college in western canada aparently (I dont think so myself heh)

lol massart is supposedly the best one in boston and is supposedly one of the highest on the east coast of the USA but thats cause its cheap and a state school - i hate massart...i go to the SMFA and then RISD is supposedly the top in the country and one of the top in the world supposedly.....but i hear weird things about it and people get in based on grades from the people that i know who go there - my school rules!!!! lol

hehehe awesome! and yeah its strange i think its some kind of weird ESP pattern cause like i made one, you did, this girl i watch did, and people have been requesting mermaids alot recently....strange....but i will try to finish that asap!

I love it, the detail is really quite awsome, not critisism... but is the cloud in the background nescessary? i just think it detracts from the drawing is all. But yeah, nice work!

dude i totally understand, lol i was playing with the cloudyness because i didnt want the chain ending abruptly and i was seeing what i could do merk wise but my comp started crashing and i just saved and said ok leave the merky for the finished piece, and thanks so much for the fav dude, you get a page visit for that one! and possibly some more lol
