Description I've made two more sets of cuddly yetis and sasquatches! If you want one of your very own, you can buy them together or separately here on Etsy . All proceeds go to Kit !

Their bodies are hand-knit with fluffy fur yarn, their arms, legs and features are sewn in felt, and they're stuffed with extra-squishy hypoallergenic polyfil.

They measure about 14 inches from head to toe, about 15 inches around the middle (give or take some fluff). Extreme huggability. They make you feel good about yourself.

Yep, that is a portion of my children's picture book collection in the background. C:

Okay so I have a question for you. The Chubkin ended up writhing all over some fluffy polyester at the fabric store and when you writhe, you buy. So I'm going to make some blankets but I'd like your hints on polyester sewing since I've never sewn it before.

Polyester... you mean felt? If you're talking felt, you basically can't go wrong -- it's easier to sew that stuff than fabric because you don't have to bind all the edges and shit. But otherwise, I know very, very little about sewing with fabric. Whatever you make will be amazing!

Do you read books on your radio show?! That is awesome. I could look through and try to pick out some that would be fun?

It's pretty broad; I try to do stories that younger kids will enjoy but also ones that are familiar to big kids. Anything will do! :>

The white and blue one is my favorite!

Also, I completely envy your collection of picture books! Children's picture books have some of the loveliest art in them, I don't know why every art lover doesn't own a few! I'm especially a sucker for old 80's books from my favorite children's tv shows!

Someone just bought my last two yetis, so I'm going to start on some more p.d.q.

Picture books are the absolute best. C: My aunt had an amazing collection when I was growing up, and going through them was like looking in a treasure chest. It's a huge part of why I wanted to draw!

These guys are intensely adorable. I admire your crafting creativity with these guys; I crocheted for several years up to my teens before switching to Hardanger embroidery, but my solo foray into the world of knitting left me in tears and a bag of yarn for a scarf pattern is still stashed away in my mum's craft cabinet.

I love Graeme Base. I used part of his 'The Worst Band in the Universe' for my Poetic Interpretation piece in Speech and Debate my Junior year of high school.

And I still don't know how to crochet. Embroidery is amazing, and something I wish I was better at. The kind of patience it takes, I do not have. Do you have pictures of your embroidery online?

soul-alive In reply to lily-fox [2011-06-30 06:21:41 +0000 UTC]

I actually started with cross-stitch, got fed up with the amount of time it takes, and switched to needlepoint, which I like better, almost solely for being faster. Eventually, I was introduced to Hardanger, which is traditional Norwegian embroidery, and I fell in love.

Link to photobucket album: [link] My last three big projects. My current WIP (with craptastic cameraphone photo) is about 14"x14". I've probably spent a few hundred hours working on it, but most of those were while simultaneously watching movies/TV.
