Description
Name: Chitose Kurokawa
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Race: Wizard
Height: 5’9
Division: Muggle Affairs
Personality:
Jokester/Mischievous- When you first meet him, his most obvious personality trait is being a joker. He loves to make people laugh. Chitose doesn’t prank people much, but he loves telling jokes or funny stories.
Patient- Extremely patient. He has the sort of relaxed personality that makes him ideal for working with younger or nervous people. Chitose is pretty laid back and it takes a lot to make him anxious. Even if he’s lost and he has somewhere to be, he won’t get worked up about it.
Hard worker/Dedicated- Despite all of his joking around, Chitose has very good work ethic. He doesn’t dawdle (too much) or procrastinate (too much) before starting work. He gets everything done before or by the deadlines, and if he’s behind, Chitose won’t hesitate to bring work home with him (or even work overtime). However, if it's not something that he has to do, he's definitely not hardworking enough or dedicated enough to do it.
Family-oriented- Chitose still lives with his parents and gets along with them very well. To him, his parents and family are his priority, and he’ll always put aside quality time to spend with his parents. Don’t listen to Leon; he respects his parents and is a very well-behaved son. He’s always a little shocked when he hears about people who don’t spend time with family at all.
Physically lazy- Chitose absolutely hates physical exercise and will do everything in his power to avoid it. He’s lucky that his metabolism works hard. In fact, some of his favorite spells are Scourgify and Tergeo so that he doesn’t have to work up a sweat cleaning anything.
Submissive/Indecisive- Chitose is frequently so laid back that he won’t stand by with what he wants to do. He’ll relent to other people’s decisions or he’ll wait for other people to decide and agree with them. It’s one of the reasons why he refused to accept being Head Boy. Being in charge of anything is scary as heck.
Vengeful/Petty- If you upset him or his friends he will absolutely go back after you 100% of the time. He’s definitely paying special attention to everyone’s weaknesses and filing them away just in case.
Backstory:
Before Chitose was born, his parents decided to immigrate from Japan to Great Britain.
His Father was a muggleborn descended from a known squib, and his mother was a muggle with no known magic in her blood. Of course, it was inevitable that Chitose grew up with plenty of muggle influence in his life. He attended a normal muggle primary school, had muggle friends, and was immersed in muggle culture in his childhood.
He was also very aware of magic, however, and his father didn’t hesitate to perform magic in front of him at any time. They also visited Diagon Alley and other magical locations, frequently. Chitose’s dad worked as a magical home renovator, as well, so Chitose had a healthy amount of exposure to the magical world and its culture.
He had a few friends who were wizards and witches that were children of his Father’s customers, which was nice when he finally was able to attend Hogwarts. Chitose wouldn’t have been too bothered with not knowing anybody, but it made it easier to see some familiar faces.
At Sorting, he was sorted into Hufflepuff. It wasn’t an easy decision, though, and Chitose had been on the seat for almost a whole five minutes as the Hat went back and forth between Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. (Though Slytherin was discarded after the first minute and a half.)
He quickly became known as “that-one-funny-Hufflepuff,” because he always tried to make people laugh (even during class, which not a lot of the teachers appreciated...but Chitose still got good grades...so none of them could really complain much.)
It was his friendliness towards students of all Houses, including Slytherin, and his good grades that made him an easy candidate for prefect. He was a candidate for Head Boy as well when he reached that age, but Chitose refused because he didn’t want that much responsibility.
During his time as a prefect at Hogwarts, Chitose became extremely aware of all of the muggleborn children that weren’t being treated well at home. It wasn’t all of them but the fact that there was a number of them at all made Chitose upset. His parents had made sure that Chitose was well aware of the dangers in both Muggle and Magical worlds, and he was aware that abuse happened, but seeing the children in person made it sink in.
After doing some research, he came to the conclusion that becoming an Auror would be the best thing to do to help these children out. He joined the Muggle Affairs division and has been there for several years now. Although his initial reason to join the division was to help the children and their families out, he’s also recognized the importance of the other work involving muggles that they take care of. Chitose doesn’t regret his decision at all and will proudly defend his division to anybody who dares to make fun of them just because they aren’t normally battling Dark Wizards.
Misc.:
-Bilingual; mother especially does not speak good English, so they mostly speak Japanese in their household
-He automatically puts his wand in his hair bun! He didn’t have a wand sheath until he graduated Hogwarts, so he’s not very used to it and very rarely remembers that he has it
-Nickname: In Primary school, a lot of kids would call Chitose by the nickname “Cheetos”. Aside from the muggleborns and some halfbloods, not a lot of people know what Cheetos is, so Chitose escaped the nickname at Hogwarts. (Feel free to have your character call him Cheetos, though.)
-Family pets: koi fish and a Kishu dog named Katashi
-Chitose has a black cat named Yuzuki
-Kurokawa means Black River. Family legend has it that their family used spells to turn the river black to ambush enemies in the water, and so they ended up being called Kurokawa.
-Chitose’s name means A Thousand Years.
-His Father works doing home renovation. He renovated the little cottage they live in, himself. He magically expanded the inside so that it would be bigger than the outside and renovated it so that it had a very Japanese interior. His business is called Kurokawa Home Renovations and he’s done it for well over 15 years now. They’re quite successful.
