This has been touched up due to wacom-ness. I lost my font for the text in this pic so it will be without.From Anne McCaffrey's All the Weyrs of Pern.
The Masterharpers Menolly and Sebell at Robinton's funeral, their fire-lizards keening.

Really pretty design for the characters, especially Menolly. "To everything there is a time and a season to every purpose under Heaven" is a biblical quote taken from Ecclesiastes 3:1 (later taken as song lyrics) with which the Pernese would have been unfamiliar given the circumstances to which they clung to duty rather than deity. Seems like AIVAS wanted Robinton to know there were things beyond even his vast knowledge.

Duty. Loving. Living. Its more real sometimes than deity. Those Pernese people looked to who protected them with awe and reverence.

I actually cried when Robinton died, a first, I can tell you, and I refused to read on for a week, it broke my heart.

I do really like this. My only critique is that Sebell's skin is described as "almost black" in one of the books.

Umm. Nope. He is Caucasian. There were many references to support it and the fact that he had brown/tan hair and tan skin due to the boating.

Yeah, I dont know why but I always pictured Sebell a blond. And thanks to the artist Rowena's cover art, I always see Menolly as a red-head.

Well, the copy of Dragonsong I have actually has her as a redhead on the cover. She looks pretty. I really have no clue what hair color Sebell has, though... I might reread a few books to see if I find something.
