I can attach myself to this easily, I love
trains! Nicely done, I see you like music while you paint, do you like classical music?

Mostly 20th century pieces when I'm in the mood (rather rarely), stuff by the likes of Vaughn Williams, Aaron Copeland, Lou Harrison, Debusy, Satie -- impressionistic pieces mostly. With my new hobby I'll have to see if I can discover some more.

My favs are in order: Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Debussy, and Mendelssohn, Wagner to a certain extent, but most
of my symphonic loves are film composers like John Williams and the
late Jerry Goldsmith, I've got tons of
their stuff, If not for them i probably wouldn't care for classical music.

Wonderful! I like to listen to music too when I paint. Film music works great. (Randy Newman's film music) Or Pat Metheney. Nothing loud or aggressive. That would influence the mood in my peaceful sceneries.

I always listed to jazz while painting, improvising is pretty much what I do. Mostly jazz radio -- Jazz with Bob Parlocha to be exact, who's programs I've recorded over the years. They usually play late at night or all night when I'm sleeping, so I have to record those that I'm more or less awake for. Being a syndicated show, they don't have commercials or local promos, so they are quit nice for playing in the background with a fair amount of variety and not a lot of talk, and Bob seems like an old friend anyways after all these years...
Right now I want something new, so I'm mostly listening to alternative rock/pop which can be interesting, though being in the background, I don't follow the tunes all that closely unless they strike me one way or the other. I'll have to give Randy Newman's music a try.

Ooo, I will check out Bob Parlocha. Maybe his show is on the internet. Jazz, Blues and 70ies rock is pretty much my thing, but I like to browse around in today's music too. If you like alternative, try 'Lambchop'.("Damaged" & "Oh-Ohio" are sublime cd's, many clips on You-Tube)) The're not loud, but rather mellow, almost mesmerizing. I love the mood they create. And I like Mark Knopfler's solo albums. All of them are beautifully orchestrated compositions. Very different than his 'Dire Straits' work. Absolutely wonderful melodies and intelligent lyrics.

And if everyone paid more attention to existing music and art, there would be less room for new things to be looked at and listened to. So it's a good thing. And it is eavesdropping, but if one didn't want anyone to hear, one need not talk out loud...
