Description     Shackle.

This is a character I have drawn several times in the past, each time with changes in his design.  As I pursue professional writing as an author (someday), I have found myself re-working my ENTIRE series from the ground up.  I have written so much more lore than the entirety of what I had previously, and am still nowhere near done.  Haven't really gotten to the characters yet, but I did manage to find the time to redesign this character.  (Haven't even figured out a new first name yet XD).

Through my research of armors and weapons, I have re-equipped and re-armored this character.  However, I did manage to stick to the original color scheme.  Chest plate is now a full plate and the armor is in as many singular pieces as possible rather than overlapping plates.  Stuck with leather armor for the forearms and legs leaving the upper thighs and arms relatively exposed.  The idea (while the arms and legs would normally have chain mail) was to keep this character lighter for travel purposes.  He's a traveler, lighter works.  Due to this he sometimes even removes the armor pieces for gambeson (cloth armor). Usually dons the metal armor for quests or bounties as it gives him an advantage over other travelers that are also travelling light.  As such, I have given him a meser (one-handed single-edged straight sword with a knife-like handle that was designed for cutting and slashing.  Works wonders on cloth and leather armor), and a made-up weapon on his gauntlet (essentially it's a spear head that can be attached or removed via a switch and clasp.  Removable cause it'll probably get stuck in people XD).  In addition he also uses a pole axe (like a halberd but the handle is a little shorter and instead of a back-spike it's a war hammer).

As for actual changes to the clothing (aside from making the armor pieces more realistic), I decided that the cloak and hood was better than the cloak, cowl, and scarves.  Cloaks have functional purposes and don't interfere with real sword combat all that much (though they do interfere with flourishing).  Also I replaced the leather hip-thing with a flayed cloth wrap.  It's mostly for style purposes but does add slightly more layering for heat and can be used as a make-shift bandage.  Can't really see them but he is wearing boots that end just above the knee.

Unlike my usual way of doing sky backgrounds, I did this completely without the use of soft pastels.  I did this for a couple of reasons.  For one, the colored pencils are so much less messy (powder gets everywhere!!!  Even after the drawing is done!).  Another reason is they get a chalky texture most of the time, and the paper shows through (which is bad).  The last major reason is that I get a lot more control over the actual color this way (though pencil lines over large areas like that tend to show through and they are also highly reflective when trying to take pictures...).  Relied a lot more on traditional sketching/shading pencils and even gave the standard #2 pencil some room to shine!

As for things I kept the same about this character, I left his overall style more or less the same.  Just made improvements on a few things.  Helmet is not based on anything historic (unlike the chest plate) because there weren't any that fit the general aesthetic of this character.  Nothing seemed to fit.  Coloration is more or less the same, improved the green for the cloak and made grey a more prominent color.  Still affiliated with wolves and the moon.  Being more consistent with the full-moon thing this time around rather than occasionally throwing in crescent moon symbolism.  This character (way back when I first came up with him) did draw inspiration from werewolves hence his more feral nature (will be much more prominent than before.  MUCH more prominent...), ties to wolves, and ties to the full moon.

Been too long since I posted anything.  Other characters, monsters, or whatever else that comes from my universe will have descriptions of this manner: describing a bit of how I made it, changes and differences between how I used to make them and how I am thinking about them now, maybe lore (maybe, don't count on it though), and whatever else winds up getting tossed in.  I hope you enjoy this one!
