Looks like a two handed spathe to me, the dark color scheme aside.

This feels less like a katana/ulfberht cross and more like a foot-soldier's version of the Cossack shasqua. It's amazingly pretty, and I can see it being used in cyclical strikes just as much as the more viking chopping styles. I wish I'd found this earlier. *w*

Oh this is excellent. I hate when I'm going all murder for the glory of Sparta and my sword starts hydroplaning. REALLY breaks my flow, y'know?

Is this blade meant to be accompanied by a shield or a twin blade?

Probably a shield would work best.

Mostly just the tsuba-like shape of the guard and the rayskin on the grip. The final design evolved quite a bit away from the initial conceptual roots.

ook i thought it would be like how you made it like folding the steel or breaking then weilding it in a brick(cant realy explain it its very complex and stuff)

If a customer would order a piece similar to this, how much would it cost?

With all damascus, probably around $3000. With standard carbon or tool steel, around $1500.

This looks very unique, with a design I don't think I have ever seen before (well, blade-wise anyway), but I freaking love it and kinda want it. Now I'm just wondering what makes it a viking/katana hybrid?

Blade/proportions are rather Viking-esque, while the guard and the rayskin on the grip are derived from katana influences.

The blade is damascus steel.
