I find it funny you say you made this partially in response to Arminius' map. He has South Tyrol entirely German, you have South Tyrol entirely Italian... but I mean, come on. The language border there is very clean. In any "dream" scenario, just split it up! The Trentino to Italy, Bozen to Germany.

I don’t think that you can deprive a “greater” nation of its starting territory, in fact some say that North Tyrol can also be included in Greater Italy.

"Starting territory"? Unless you want to claim a continuity with the Roman Empire, which would lead to some truly wild irredentism, Italy surely has to start with the Kingdom of the Langobards - the Kingdom of the Iron Crown and so on. And ever since then, Tyrol outside the Trentino has never been Italian until the end of WW1.
But "greater nation" and "starting territory" is nonsense, anyway. Borders should be drawn to accommodate people, and hence should match the ethnic-lingual-national facts on the ground as closely as possible.

Do you mean in real life? No, it wouldn’t, but if that’s your opinion I respect it.

May I recommend a change to the title?: How Italy Should've Ended Up. xD

In which scenario do you think it should have ended up in this way?

All but Savoie should've ended up with the Italians give or take Dalmatia. Genoa should've never ceded Corsica to France, Great Britain should've given Malta to Italy, and Switzerland should've never been a thing.

oh ok, yeah well that's simple, but I wanted to keep this map as "neutral" as possible, only reporting informations without political judgement, and "hot Italy should've ended up" isn't probably the best for this ^^'

Yeah. It was a joke, but these borders are most pleasing.

Yes, that is exactly how I think Italy should be as well. I guess we also share a similar dislike of Switzerland as a nation too. xD

That's not a bad proposal either. But I think the Slovenes should still have some access to the sea.

Lugania!? Non conoscevo questo nome da dove spunta?
però nella "Savoia" c'è anche la Valle d'Aosta....comunque sia questi sono possibili nomi, scelti da me e che sono soggettivi, quindi non stento a credere che altri possano preferirne altri ^^

Hey I have another cool idea for an alternate history scenario.
Do the Holy Roman Empire, but Italy has an Emperor who also
rules the Germans not as it was OTL^^

mmm, where would you pyt the p.o.d? i had in mind after the election of Friedrich II as holy roman emperor, instead of keeping the crown of Sicily divided from the crown of the empire, he unites it provoking the reaction of France, after an harsh war the empire wins and annexes some territories from France plus the hole republic of Venezia who allied with France, fearing the new superpower. This new power is able to keep croisades territories better expanding in middle east, eventually discovering new commercial way and beginning a colonial empire first in Asia and Africa under Italian Repubbliche Marinare control and gestion (more experience), then, after the discovery of Americas, in the new continent this time under the joint administration of Germans and Italians....what do you think about it?

Arminius1871 In reply to LoreC10 [2015-05-24 11:13:37 +0000 UTC]
I also thought about Friedrich II, as he already liked Sicily more than Germany,
cause he grew up there XD Anyway there was a time in middleage, when italian
trading cities were much richer and bigger than any german ones, so maybe with
the help of Friedrich, he could make a long lasting capital for the Kaiser in Italy
dominating the german states.

mmm, possible, but why a so radical scenario? I tent to prefer a scenario where the two nations collaborate on the same level to make the reich great
