  Introduction to "Decisions

Objective: Travel to the Southern Isle and seek out any survivors of the Fire that once raged over the land.

After their long journey, and the many dilemma it held - Vladek and is Bachelor herd followers were exhausted. A few of them had cuts from the rat attacks, and all of them were dehydrated. They all seemed to believe they owed it to themselves to take a break from the journey. While they were so close to the ocean shore they could see it, Vladek decided it was better for all of them to let themselves drink from the nearby streams and simply lay low for a while. Besides, if any of the Exiles had survived this long - it was likely they could survive a few more days.

The smaller larger half of the Bachelors spoke often during their days of rest on what they should do if they found any survivors, but when the day finally came - they were shocked to see none of their earlier solutions would have provided any aid to their problem. Vladek had lead a small search party to scour the shores, however they did not find one or two surviving Exiles on the southern Island - they didn't even make it that far.

Instead what they found was an infestation. The Exiles had come onto their land - and with who's permission? Not theirs. Vladek found himself infuriated- but with his small scout party they could do nothing against the larger amount of exiles that resided in a small cove on the beach. Instead, he headed sullenly back to the rest of his half of the herd - and decideded to consult them before making a move.

Will the Bachelors confront the Exiles, or wait to see if they move off of the land? Will the attack? Or peace? Find out Below!

RP opens/Begins on January 10th

Grange || Bachelor Stallion ||  Grange was surprised when Fawks came up and nibbled at his mane as he apologized.  "I know.  He gets under my skin," the gray horse replied, smirking at Fawks.  He could feel his head swim as the Chimera stood close, but that passed when Fawks turned away to greet the new mare.  Watching the stallion leave, Grange snapped mentally at himself that he shouldn't get entangled.  Besides, it was obvious Fawks liked someone else.  And Miles was back with the herd.  Miles who seemed nice...but who hadn't really been there for Grange.  He was more like a friend.  A friend who happened to like stallions, but so far just a friend.  Even so, Grange couldn't allow himself to wish for something as far out as Fawks.  He should be happy just that he had both Casper and Fawks as friends.  But still.....still....Sucking in a deep breath and trying to keep his legs from shaking, the gray horse followed the Chimera to check on Seeker.  So far, he hadn't gotten off on the right foot with the mare, and he wanted to start over.  Plus....there was Fawks.  He is just a friend, Grange said, knowing that was most certainly a lie.  A lie he didn’t believe in the slightest.

Fawks

Fawks watched the mare walk into the herd, he closed his eyes his ears to his skull as he mourned for her, and this wasn't the life for anyone. Let alone a mare. He watched the blonde mare walk, Levi beside her he snarled he wasn't worthy of being near a mare like her. He turned leaving the herd and walked to Grange and softly nibbled his mane the blue and brown eyed stallion looked at the gray “I’m sorry I bumped into Levi and your, uh….Discussion, He just angers me to no end… I’ll let you do your thing now…”  After saying that the Calico trotted up to Seeker and Levi, He simply gave a nod and a sad look to the Appaloosa mare, He’d do his best to keep her safe from hurt, he had promised himself.  He had done enough speaking for today and his thicker coat made the day harder, with his blood boiling and the heat had cause the stallion to become tired, but he refused to allow himself to sleep, He had more trust in the Exiles than he did his own herd, He had a few companions but not many, Apollo, Kai, Grange, Casper and hopefully Seeker as well.

Shaking his head he started wishing to head back home, back to his light colored stallion. But On his thoughts of the future another horse entered them, turning his head to look at the invader of his thoughts,’Silly me, That stallion is straight, He has Casper no? Plus you have Salem….’ He had Salem, He couldn't afford to question who he liked..

\\ Thunderhead || Bachelor Stallion //

Thunderhead couldn't contain a smirk as he quickly followed Ghost up the hill. He supposed the one reason he actually fit in with the Bachelors was his eagerness for a fight. He wouldn't say that he wanted things to go poorly with the Exiles and have a fight break out... but he wouldn't complain either if he got to bruise a few hides before the day was done.

As the large paint joined Ghost at the top of the hill behind the brush, he took a moment to notice that there were a couple of tracks even here. So the Exiles had been nearby the whole time. Wonderful. Well, if they could remain here undetected for however long, then at least it meant that he and Ghost could do the same. His ears twitched as he heard his name and he came up beside the older appaloosa, looking out towards the two groups. He spotted a scarred mare that was clearly an Exile now standing with the other brood mares. Thunderhead frowned. "I guess this means we're not running them off." he grumbled. He wasn't really surprised, but he wasn't really happy either. He snorted quietly. "This is a good way to get a damn spy in our midst, if you ask me."

~Ghost l Bachelor Stallion

Ghost snorted in agreement with the other stallion and began trotting out of the cold icy water. "Agreed. Things sound like they aren't going as well as they could." He shook his thick heavy coat as he stepped onto the shore, water flinging all over. The hoof prints leading to the herd were clear, and coming from behind would definitely give them the upper hoof if things really were as bad as the old stallion feared. "We should move quickly. It's not far, I can keep up." He stated matter of factly. Seeing how anxious the younger stallion was for action, Ghost felt the need to assure the paint that  he was in fact quite capable. The run through the sea had rejuvenated the old appaloosa, and he was feeling a second wind. "Let's do this thing." Smirking, he took off toward the sparse brush at the top of this hill.

As he reached the top of the hill, Ghost slowed the a jog, careful not to come up too quickly. He stopped beside a sparse bush like plant, hoping it would provide enough concealment.  Once settled, the stallion looked down into the valley bellow. The two herds were still arguing over terms, though it seemed as if they were beginning to come to some sort of arrangement. The scarred appaloosa Exile mare was now standing near the Bachelors broods. "Hey Thunderhead, get a load of this." He called quietly to the paint stallion. Though he wasn't fond of the idea of having the Exiles in their territory, if the Bachelors got some more herd members out of it, it was a decent trade.

Grange || Bachelor Stallion ||  Grange blinked, noticing how stoic and calm she tried to be.  Sure, she'd made her choice, but that didn't mean any of them were happy about it.  And he knew she had intentionally sentenced herself to a life of pain to save her own herd.  "And that's why I said it was brave," he replied quietly, swishing his tail to dispel a group of flies that had settled around his rump and were trying to suck his blood.  They gathered around the open cuts from his battle with Levi, and he noticed they seemed attracted to the scarred mare's fresh wounds as well.  Glancing at the new mare, Grange could tell that Seeker was uncomfortable being around so many horses, so he excused himself without another word and trotted towards Apollo, stopping in front of the palomino horse.  "I didn't need your help," he said, staring down at the large horse.  "But thank you," he added, dipping his head towards the golden horse.  He shuffled back a few steps, not wanting to crowd the golden palomino too much.  Quietly, Grange glanced back at the herd, wondering if they would let him back into their group now that he’d left to chat with Apollo.  He knew Vladek’s followers would be supremely pissed at him, and he wasn’t too happy with the thought of how much physical pain was waiting for him in the herd.  But it was worth it to speak his mind

Seeker || Scared Mare

As more and more horses came up to her to welcome her into this heard in their own manners and demeanors her heart fluttered harder and harder against he chest which seemed to crack some of her drying blood to break and let more through but she paid no heed to it. She was beginning to feel very claustrophobic here and the fear was shaping up into something much like terror. As she tried to focus on the made who told her she would be a friend she almost felt dizzy and took a step backwards and unfortunately bumped into Levi.

Her ears shot backwards as she tried to glance back and judge his anger when another stallion went on loudly and welcomed her into the herd yet again but with more pride. She then turned to Grange who has apologized for this.

"I made my choice, my herd lives"

Well that was wrong now wasn't it, it wasn't her herd anymore. she had just walked into the open arms of what could be the darkest roughest herd. Sighing she sent and unusual plea to the skies as she sided another look to Levi and over the shoulders and between the heads to Kanu who seemed to be saying something.  She wondered then if she would really be missed or not. She wasn't very sociable and save for this very rash outburst she had contributed nothing to them really. I mean, in that case why would they? But strangely still, she felt good for doing this for them so that they could go on. This wasn't the end for her either, who knows maybe she would birth a colt for them and actually have something close to her again...

K A N U –Exile lead stallion--

Kanu sighed, lowering his head. His eyes had no more sparkle and his legs were shaking uncontrollably. Watching Seeker join those... Monsters, was one of the hardest things he thought he'd ever endure. He knew she was strong, stronger than most, but still he feared for how strong she'll be when she's returned to them, scarred and abused.

Kanu, get a grip, its for your herd. She did a great thing today and it's promised a better future for the Exile horses. He thought to himself sternly before lifting his head and clenching his muscles once again. He looked back at the small group he lead, all of their expressions showing dissapointment and sorrow. He too was feeling the same way, but sometimes being a leader wasn't the best of experiences and to uphold that title he needed to let things happen that don't seem like the best way out.

”You have our mare. You treat her well, you have no choice. She is strong, and deserves the best life possible... No matter where she is.” He said, his features crinkling into a frustrated frown. He owed a lot to Seeker, this was a noble thing to do and if he could switch their positions, he would. But it was done now. They were finally safe.

Grange || Bachelor Herd || Grange watched as Seeker made her way farther and farther into the herd.  Sighing, he dropped his head slightly.  Although he'd done the best he could, she'd been taken in as yet another brood, and it disheartened him to see the mare walk deeper into their midst.  But if he could not save her from a fate in the Bachelor herd, then he could at least try and make the mare comfortable.  And besides, it would feel good.  He no longer felt guilty at every step for saying something just because it would make the leaders' happy.  He was done playing that game.  So he walked slowly over, wincing as his ribs throbbed, and extended a welcome to Seeker.  "You were very brave," he told the mare, dipping his head to her.  "I'm sorry it ended like this," he added more quietly, swishing his tail.  He looked over at Casper, then back to Seeker, wondering how the Exile would do in this strange, brutal herd.

Casper| Brood mare

Casper watched with pride as Grange spoke out against the payment of mares, but her pride soon turned to concern as Levi quite predictably brought violence into the equation. She had to actively keep herself from going to his aid, but she knew if she did it would make him seem week; after all what bachelor stallion needed a half blind mare to protect him? She contented herself with pinning her ears and just watching the interaction carefully. Once Apollo spoke out, however, she had to bite her tongue to keep from chastising him, 'He can fight his own battles!' she thought desperately.

Once the slight excitement died down, she sighed as Vladek insisted on the Exile mare who had volunteered coming over to stand with them. She looked between the mare and Grange, contemplating who she should go speak to first. On one hoof, she needed to have a serious talk with her friend about his actions earlier and his seemingly conflicted emotions, but on the other hoof the Exile mare was bound to be shaken and she was already injured on top of that....

Making up her mind Casper turned and walked towards the southern mare, looking her up and down to check for more injuries than her still painful-looking chest. When she came to stand in front of her she offered her a warm smile, "Hello." She spoke softly, as to not attract attention, "I'm Casper...I haven't been here long myself but...I just wanted to let you know that you already have a friend in me, and your not alone. Ever." she emphasized the last word and continued to smile at her, hoping to see a smiled returned from the brown mare.

Seeker || Scared Mare

Seeker heard Kriti's voice and spun her head once more but saw the wall that was Levi and could read his determination to push her into the small amount of Bachelors that were here with the Exiles. There would be no going back, not now and she knew that all too well as the large stallion spoke to her in a low voice welcoming her. She gave a nod to him, resuming her usual silent nature but it had been brought on by fear and worry of what lay ahead now and not just general awkwardness.

"Thank you"

She did manage however to him, not wanting to show disrespect so early in her new life. That is until Levi lashed out vocally to another stallion who had come to the aid of the one called Grange, her half white face a throne of confusion. Everything was so strange, she was so used to mutual respect amongst herds that these actions were rather unsettling to her but she choked them down and watched wide eyed as Levi continued to make sure she made her way further and further away from her home. That is until a mare came upon them and began to speak to Seeker, welcoming her but Seeker had always been very observant and easily read the hate on the tail end of the sentence she spoke.

"Thank you very much..."

She murmured in return in a warmer voice than she had been using with the stallions for this mare. She was obviously blind but had made it a point to find her and speak her welcomings even if she loathed the words that dripped away from her.

~~~~~~~Levi~~~~~~~~~
Levi heard Vladek speak and perked up. Giving a snort and a tail flick in the face to Grange he walked off to Vladek.His ears perked to the leader as he heard  him whisper about the mare that was to come over. If she didn't he would retrieve her and he was totally fine with that. He nodded and stood there watching Seeker slowly come forward towards them. He was excited a mare that wasn't corrupted by the ones they had a new mare. His blue eyes looked at Seeker as she came over. Once she was a good ways close to them he would walk behind her pretty much a wall of you cant turn back now. His head was up and dominate and his ears were alert. "Welcome" He spoke in his low voice. He walked close to her. He heard Apollo and looked at him. "Its not about the size mouths that need shutting come in all sizes. Like your own. GO suck on Grange's teat" he didn't pick on Grange because he was smaller picked on him for his mouth and that's it. Not size. His head raised and shunned Apollo another mare stallion. He was really tired of the horses lip and he seemed to never shut up. Vladek didn't yell at him for attacking or hell not attacking trying to put the stallion in place. Its not like they made decisions anyway it was Vladek that would. He stayed close to the new mare as she would keep walking into the herd more.
Grange || Bachelor Herd ||  Grange groaned inwardly as yet another stallion came prancing to his defense.  Although he was grateful that his fellow herdmates were speaking out about how they disagreed with the innerworkings of the bachelor herd, it made him look weak, as though he depended on someone stronger to care for him.  And that had once been true, when he cowered behind Hale.  "You didn't have to do that," Grange mumbled, even though he was bleeding from a few small cuts he'd received during his fight.  He'd managed to land some blows on Levi as well, despite his small stature, and he wanted to prove that he could take care of himself.  Glancing away from the two, Grange looked at his herdmates.  He could tell Vladek was deeply on the road to being pissed off, but he felt a small spike of Bachelor-ish pride at the fact that he'd stood up for himself.  If a horse were to stop and think about it, it was brave to defend his beliefs.  But the Bachelors would never see it like that.  In his own herd, he would be considered a pest.  The pride vanishing, Grange had to look away from Vladek so he wouldn't focus on the brutality he would receive later--as Levi had already shown would happen.  Instead, his eyes found Casper's face, and he gave her the tiniest of smiles.  It was the weak smile one gives another when they know that things are grim, but want to seem all right.  He hoped that somehow, standing up now could replace that he was originally the one who suggested taking mares as payment, just to get on the herd's good side.  The look Casper had given him then had broken something that Hale's leaving had cracked.  Hiding behind Hale made him weak, and ingratiating himself to Vladek made him hurt his friend.  But maybe, just maybe, this could make up for it.
Kriti
_____________________________
Kriti had not been this silent in a very long time. As she listened, her blood slowly began to boil up inside. How dare they make such a demand?! To take one of their mares as payment? Kriti had heard many stories of the horrible life that bachelor mares endured. She wouldn't want any of her fellow Exiles to have to live that life. Even if it meant saving her herd. Kriti couldn't take the silence any longer and with a loud stomp of her hoof, she finally spoke up. "Seeker, no!" Immediately, Kriti shut her mouth. She shouldn't have spoken up. After all, it was Seekers decision, not hers. Seeker had already taken her walk towards Vladeks side. Yet, Kriti couldn't stand idly by and watch one of her fellow Exiles just surrender to the Bachelors demands like that. "Who's to say you won't treat Seeker with disrespect like you do with your own mares?!" Kriti growled at Vladek. Kriti could care less who it was she talked to. No matter how big, strong or intimidating the stallion was, she would fight for the rights of her herd-mates, even if it meant risking her own life.
Adina
Adina listened to the hooves of the exile mare, making her way towards Vladeks side. What had this mare just done? She would willingly throw her life away for her herd? Adina wished she could do the same. This life as a Bachelor mare was something she didn't wish on her worst enemies. Adina couldn't help but glance her pale, blind eyes over towards the one called Seeker. She may not be able to see her, but Adina's expression of shame and concern for the new member of her herd was apparent on her face. Seeker must be terrified. If she isn't, having a friend in this cruel new herd couldn't hurt. Slowly, Adina worked her way towards Seeker, in hopes to give her some sort of comfort in knowing she wasn't alone. Adina wedged herself between Vladek and Seeker and gave the new mare a slight smile. "Welcome to the Bachelors." Her voice was soft, quiet and had a hint of hatred when she spoke the word "Bachelors". If heard, this hatred in her voice wouldn't be easily missed.
Seeker || Scared Mare
Seeker had watched the outburst from some of the stallions with wide eyes as her gut clenched. What had she gotten herself into now, she asked herself. The patchy mare took steps towards Vladek, pausing for a moment she looked back at Kanu who had just praised her and stood up for her. Seeker would remember that, the loner of the herd felt like she was worth something for once but that no longer mattered. She had offered herself up to this and she would face it head first, giving Kanu a smile she turned her attention back to the horses of the Bachelors herd and moved closer to Vladek and gave a deep bow of her head. She had also noticed the looks of a stallion beside Vladek that had been a part of the attack on the other and she shivered.
"I did it for their lives"
The horse said in a monotone voice but there was hidden power in it as well, the fact her words were true aided in the eerie echo of the quiet mare. If she had not done this they would have to return to the barren lands and she knew that meant death. It could even go worse, they could fight the weakened exiles and she knew she could not stand that. Lifting herself from her respectful bow she began to move further to the bachelors, she could feel eyes all around her. Judging her, weighing up her usefulness and more than likely capability to birth foals. Sighing a bit she held her head lower than the stallions, she didn't want to start off on a bad foot if she had to be here. Her bi-colored eyes looked at all the scars and injuries that littered this herd, none so big as her own but there were many that had obviously been inflicted by fellow herd members.
Finally she reached Vladek and with her ears pinned tight to her skull she dared a look backwards once again.
Vladek
Hey everyone, we understand that this has been slightly confusing for everyone lately, we're making efforts to improve this for next objective!
also, to mention people you have to use the @ username dA system for whatever reason :C
    Vladek sighed. He seemed to be doing a lot of this lately. When Casper spoke he groaned, rather loudly. Would no one in his herd support their cause? He truly had been stuck with all the mares and weaklings even as Klaus had the stronger horses who truly carried the Bachelor spirit in the north. Yet, before he could speak to angrily reprimand the younger filly, another voice surprised him. His eye lids drooped in thankfulness for the speech of one sane mare. He looked on her with curious eyes - the horse that had spoken out loudly above her herd-mates was not particularly pretty. In fact her scared face would have most stallions cringe. She was strong though, her eyes spoke of supreme intelligence but a docile nature he couldn't help but respect.
    "You heard your mare" he said to Kanu sternly, he wasn't taking no for an answer. The life of a Bachelor mare was a hard one, but one to be respected. As long as they produced they were protected just as fiercely as the next stallion. The other herds just didn't seem to understand that. He sniffed at Grange's outrage, the tirade he had just gone on was very unlike him, but proved to the temporary leader he lacked the spirit of his herd. "Come here young one, we won't hurt you - you've just given your herd a month of time on our land. You should be proud of yourself" He motioned for Seeker to cross her side to his own. He would leave the exiles alone as soon as the young seeker was on his side of the the circle he and the other horses welcomed her into the herd. Vladek eyed Cholena and Adina carefully - hoping the two of them would take the new addition to the herd under their gentle wing.
    "Kanu, I understand you're upset, but we're not sending you back to die - we're asking for fair payment - a new member or two for our herd. They'll be treated as one of our own, and you'll be free to graze our land as long as you need. Why is it so hard for you exiles to understand that?" he slowly turned to Levi, thankful for the overwhelming presence of the other stallion, and whispered so that only Levi could hear - "If she does not come over, please retrieve her"
\\ Thunderhead //
Thunderhead had almost entirely come up onto the beach now, the icy water washing up just past his knees. It wasn't exactly easy going, but he had already had enough swimming for his liking. The large paint shook water out of his mane, making his way farther up onto the sand and out of the water as they neared the little cove. The sands were churned with hoof prints, but as Thunderhead pressed his ears forward and scanned the beach, he didn't see any of the Exiles. But he could hear them, and the Bachelors, only a few raised voices drifting over the hills. Thunderhead looked back at Ghost. "They should be just over the hills." He looked up towards the grassy hill tops. He saw the sparse brush at the top of the hill. It didn't look like much, but he knew it'd be enough to hide at least himself and Ghost. He could see the prints the Exiles had made going to meet the Bachelors. He could see where a couple older prints had taken the same path he was eyeing towards the brush and sparse trees. Thunderhead guessed he wasn't the first to think of this. He turned to Ghost again. "We can come up behind them from here. We can stay out of sight and hit them from behind if things go south." Although the raised voice he could hear made Thunderhead anxious and want to act immediately, he waited for Ghost to either agree or offer his objections.
~~~Levi~~~

Levi was surprised that Grange spoke to Fawks that way he figured that he would want help."You have mare minds" he blurted out to Fawks. No matter this little horse was little threat in his eyes. He seen the tension in his eyes and the horse lashed out as he turned back. "not really" he spoke to Grange.He meet Grange on his own feet and kicked  his large powerful hooves back at him too. Hoping and aiming to hit him.He felt hooves hit his thick chest muscles legs flailing at each other their hooves likely clacked and made noises amongst the group. His ears back and he pushed his large body forward with his kicks. He was a resilient and strong using that to his advantage. Once the damage the balancing act of the two were done he landed. He was still pretty tense and his ears back and his head still standing high of dominance. He stood there firm debating on walking away from him. He was done with this horses whines and cries.He though didn't want to walk away thinking he won. So he stood there his ears back and standing tall. His that was on the other side away from Grange swiveled to the others. He was annoyed frustrated and just irritated he should of gone north with the other part of the heard. It probably had less mare stallions and mares. It would have less of this dumb, crying of not being far or second guessing the leader. If they wanted leader go fight Vladek for it instead of insulting him. Do something about it. Words weren’t going to over throw anyone.

Grange || Bachelor Stallion || "I know what you do, and I know how this herd works.  But that does not mean I will shut up.  The only way to change things is to make them change.  I know you all think I am stupid and weak, and that I should just shut the hell up.  But I am not, and I won't," he added, shooting a glance at Fawks.  Even though the chimera had come to his aid, he could tell that Fawks wouldn't have said anything like that to Vladek.  Grange was actually surprised he had managed it.  It had just sort of spilled out, without consent from his brain.  And now he had to back it up. Rearing on his hind legs, he lashed out with his forehooves, aiming for Levi's neck and shoulder.  "I can fight my own battles without help.  But I bet you think I'm not even worth the trouble," he snarled, pinning his ears to his skull.  Although he disagreed with the Bachelor ways, their rough living skills had not passed him by, and he knew how to fight when he needed.  It also frustrated him that everyone treated him as though he were weak and breakable.  Just because he didn’t like to fight did not mean the entire circle of sympathizers had to swarm to his aid, like when Ghost kicked him.  Yeah, sure, it was nice to know they cared, but the only way the Bachelors would take their opinion seriously (ha, like they ever would.  Coexisting was not a Bachelor word at all), was if they spoke to the Bachelors in their own language: violence.  Sometimes a war could lead to peace.

~~Levi~~~~

Levi's lip raised at Grange at more words that flapped from his mouth. He stepped closer to the smaller stallion. "Maybe if you don't say ridiculous things that makes us want to hurt you then you wouldn't get pushed around. Your ideals of this peaceful babble is not for this herd. Nursing strangers and sympathizing with them isn't this herd. YOU don't know this herd if you think that's what we do." he spoke to him more irritated a bit. He can't stop him from voicing unless he was muted. He already scrapped Grange with his teeth then he heard wonderful Fawks he wasn't even thinking about maiming Grange anymore but Fawks just pissed him off. He lunged at Grange to bite him but kicked up his back legs to Fawks. He was tired of their mouths and Fawks apparently had to get in there business even if it wasn't his to begin with.  "See even your mare stallion buddies think your a coward and can't defend yourself" he grumbled at Grange. Once he was done back kicking he stood firm and tall he did not show fear to Fawks or Grange. His ears back and head high."I am not talking to you  Fawks. IF Grange isn't a coward or is a stallion he says he is he can defend himself with out your head being in the way.You don't need to be in everyone's business" he spat out. If he was punished for defending the leader and causing a ruckus in herd so be it. He was a bachelor and these mare stallions hurt their rep more then his reprimands. He does not regret any of it. It would be a argument or even a discussion between Grange and him. Fawks was the one to make this bigger. His eyes watched the two But his ears listened for the others.

Fawks

Fawks stared out Astonished that his leader would say such a thing, he had hoped this stallion, would be better than the rest but he was wrong. The calico stallion listened to other bicker, His eyes caught the sight of a mare with a scabbed chest volunteer herself, and he sent her a pitying look. But it soon faded when Kanu spoke up, he smiled. He admired this leader; Fawks had grown up with Klaus and the bachelor herd. Than Grange spoke, He wanted to nip at the stallion but he wasn’t close enough, but then Levi lunged at him Fawks ran to them and Squealed “Don’t you lay a hoof on him” he snorted at the larger stallion, He knew he’d probably get a good beating from this, but he didn’t care, the Gray stallion Shouldn’t have spoken he agreed but he was to silent for too long “Why are We Looked down upon? Aren’t the stallions the master gender? Then why is it that we are treated like Dirt? You would think there would be a lot more of us ‘mare-stallions’ I respect mares yes but I see no mare like qualities in us, we are too stallions. And I swear Levi you even touch Grange I will lash out at you.”  He looked right at the light stallion “Kanu and his herd never begged they simply Asked.”

Grange || Bachelor Stallion ||  Levi's teeth scraped a shallow mark down his neck as Grange ducked, barely escaping a more vicious bite.  Pinning his ears, he pulled his lips back, nostrils flaring with anger.  Levi's suggestion that he leave struck a chord.  Many times, the champagne appaloosa had wanted to leave, but Hale--his brother--and Casper had kept him in place.  And now Miles was an added reason to stay.  "So I should run away like a coward?  If the Bachelors are good for anything, it's putting stock in bravery.  It would be weak to run away and leave my friends behind.  You don't have to like what I say, Levi, but I won't stop.  I've been watching, and observing for so long.  I am sick of being pushed around by horses like you.  And Vladek."  'And Hale,' he thought, remembering how he'd watched his own brother turn their mother over to the herd without batting an eyelash, because it was his duty.  The scars on her body were mostly Hale's fault.  He could have defended the weak, and he'd chosen to take the easier path instead.  Snorting angrily, Grange glared at Levi, vowing he would not follow in his brother's hoofprints.  He would never be like Hale.

Levi looked at Rambriel just rolled his eyes ”we won’t need any help”he said dryly at this horse. His eyes narrowed watching this stallion but his words didn’t irritate him much. He then looked around at the other horses and the mares that were with them wondered who they would give up. He then heard Kyranos speak and nodded that  he did speak the truth. They didn’t force them to stay if they didn’t like it the get out. He weaved his head a bit. Listening if others would speak up but saw a mare step up saying she would be the first. He perked his head and got excited “finally a mare with some sense in her head.” As she stepped forward, Levi started to move towards her direction then stopped once he heard Grange. He knew he would say something but honestly not all of that. This was not only insulting Vladek but Bachelors them selves. He showed that the herd was weak crying colts not stallions that made decisions. He was relatively calming before but this just felt he had a hoof right in the face. He was a weak mare stallion and would not tolerate this sissy shit infront of a herd. Levi made quick footing over to Grange. Sending a large rumble of a nay he lunged out with his big head at Grange with his teeth he would if he got him bite hard didn’t care if the stallion fell or not. If he didn’t meet his teeth with Grange he would run right into him with a strong chest. ”Enough of your weak as Bull shit. If you don’t like what the bachelor herd stands for or even how the herd is run then leave. NOW go to them go with them back to the land they come from. We don’t need sniveling crying colts we need stallions. You have been a problem with your weak heart this whole time. Hell I doubt the exiles want you weak and mind shifting ass. Insulting the acting leader is pathetic. You weren’t chosen for a reason. You are a Mare stallion. You don’t even deserve a Name amongst us from this pathetic out burst of sympathetic bull crap you vomit from your mouth. Let Vladek decide the proper leader not you.” Levi didn’t hold back he was tried of holding back. He didn’t know why Grange was here yah he may have been born into the bachelors but they could kick him out and doubted any one but the mares and a few mare stallions with him would care. His posture was tense and strong. His ears back and head up staring at Grange he was very close if not touching Grange with his shoulder. He would stand there firm. His nostrils flaring as he breathed hot air at him. He heard Kanu and just glanced at him. “ yeah ok we aren’t the ones pleading for land . we gave you an option we tried. You don’t want it.” He just gave a very dull and unamused voice as they felt that they would be weak with reputation. They offered a choice didn’t they but they didn’t like it. IF they didn’t they should leave. His head turned back onto Grange.

K A N U --- Exile lead stallion---

Kanu was taken back at this quick conversation which unfolded before him. His ears pricked at the words that escaped Vladek's damned mouth. Before Kanu was about to speak, Matthew and Rambriel spoke up, he wasn't about to interrupt their input because they were basically pulling words out of his mouth. Taking a deep breath, he looked down for a moment, his hooves buried in sand and his muscles bunched under his thin coat. Emotions roiled in the pit of his stomach as if it were some kind of disease, but still he managed to keep his own and return his monotone gaze toward their 'leader'.

Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Seeker piped up, announcing she would give herself to the Bachelors, Kanu gasped, pinning his ears. He cared too much for all of his mares to allow any to give themselves up, it was brave and he was proud of her but he couldn't let her do that, it was beyond her decision any more. He took a sideways step so that he was closer to Seeker, his eyes flashing determined protectiveness toward her. Once Grange vented, he couldn't help but second guess this stallion. He had seemed so eager to please the bachelors a few moments ago, but now with the upbringing of the final offer involving mares, he seemed totally different.

Kanu honestly didn't know how to reply once all was again silent, but he knew words would do,

”Vladek, you may think weak of us, you may think us desperate. But in truth, we have gone through much more than you and survived, thrived and kept our own. Our herd members are strong, stronger than the look in your eyes gives off. I mean no disrespect what-so-ever, we understand this is a big ask, a big favour, but it is temporary, not for life. There's is literally no harm done if you don't even spot one of our herd on the span of time in which we stay on your land, we will not dint your ways or effect your lives. But making us march home today is going to be something that will put a very bad reputation on your head, you will be frowned upon, weakened and no longer seen as strong as you truly are.” His words were bold and his tone dramatically mimicked a true leader, this was it. He was showing how true he was to his herd, he was finally delivering the promises of being a good leader.

His head remained high and his breath was unwavering, everything about him in this moment looked unbreakable. He flashed a look toward Seeker, one that showed admiration and pride, there was no greater feeling to him right now, knowing how strong his herd really was.

Grange || Bachelor Herd ||  "No!"  The word passed Grange's lips before he even registered speaking, in a shrill stallion-squeal.  It felt as if he'd been kicked again, and his legs suddenly began to tremble.  As the stallion gaped, searching for words that could convey his anger and disgust with this offer, he stood in shocked silence.  Finally, he spoke again; his voice had a hard edge to it that he'd never heard issue from his own throat before.  He had no idea where the strength to speak came from, but he did not falter when he did.  "You can't do this, Vladek.  These horses are dying.  An entire herd is dying.  If you can let them die or sentence these horses to a life that is worse than death, then you are truly heartless and spineless.  It is not courageous to push these horses when they are already desperate.  It shows that you are weak.  You don't know what to do, and you've never done the right thing in your life.  If it came up and spit in your face, you wouldn't do the right thing.  I don't care if it's the way of the herd.  It's wrong.  My life was no different than any of yours, but I know that this is sick and cowardly.  Only a weakling who is drowning would latch onto something so piteous as this.  The strong thing, the brave thing, would be to help them.  Because that's not the way of the Bachelors.  Because it's different enough.  Because you have to have courage to do it.  But you wouldn't know courage if it bit you on the arse.  Just think about it.  An entire herd will suffer at your hooves, because you want to look strong.  You don't know what you're doing; you're nothing without Klaus to tell you what to do.  You cannot do this.  You just can't."  He was panting, chest heaving from the exertion of speaking so quickly and angrily, and his eyes were wide, ears flattened to his head.  Grange's hooves were splayed slightly, fighting stance.  He knew there would be a physical retribution for this, but he could not sit idly by and watch the Exiles hand over mares and colts to live in the hellish Bachelor herd.

Seeker || Scarred Mare

Seeker's ears pinned hard downwards as she heard the offer. They could stay and lose one member every moon or they could go or die. Her mismatched eyes no longer looked at the rivaling herd infront of her but instead to the members of her own around her. She had fallen a bit more silent again as talks went on and on but the other bachelors were supporting this. The exiles, her exiles were trying to find another solution. Rambriel even had the good idea of letting them have a home in need when their island was back to when it could support life. But inside seeker could feel her stomach floppin with nervousness, knowing they would most likely not change this.

She looked down at her chest, seeing the scar that was now covered in a hard angry scab. The blood that had run from her pinch the fur on her legs, but she paid no heed. The brown and creme mare looked back over herself now, eyeing the scar that struck her back in a horrific sight. So she wasn't perfect, but she was sturdy and could probably produce a few good foals. With as much dignity that she could manage now, with the thoughts that swam through her mind she took a step forward.

"I can be your first"

Her words were crisper than she had thought they would be, but it did nothing to still the flutter and the sudden fear that washed over her as she searched the eyes of the bachelor herd before her. Taking another step she realized she may be coming across as too direct and lowered her head. As much as this was what she didn't want, if it meant her herd would have safe haven she would take this step. Who knows if she produced a little girl she could return, and would she be okay leaving like that? Probably not, but with a snort she decided to cross that bridge when it came to her.

Kyanos || He had been staying quiet. No one would have expected the quiet young stallion to say as much as he had this day. Besides, he had given his opinion, he didn’t need to repeat it. If his opinion mattered at all he would only need to speak it once and it would be taken into consideration. That being said he stood there by his leader’s side, ear flicking about as he listened to the hustle and bustle going on about. So much was happening he could hardly keep up. He had sort of zoned out there for a minute. He’d never done so before, but then again, he had never had so much socialization in one day before either.  It was more than likely just a natural defense mechanism to protect him emotionally from the stress of everything.

“One mare a moon.” The voice of the respected stallion beside him drew him back to the present time. He lifted his head some, tilting it so he could get a blurry glance at Vladek. So he really was going to demand payment? And real payment at that. He was impressed. In all honestly, deep down, he hated the idea of taking in more horses to live this same damned life that he called his. He didn’t want to think they were forcing it on even more. Even more so, they would already have seen what life Should be like. At least having been born here, Kyanos didn’t know what he was missing, but they would. He felt bad about that, but not enough to drop his act, nor his loyalty to his herd. As much as he disagreed with them, it was his herd, and therefore he would honor it and its traditions.

Immediately after his proposition though, as should have been expected, several horses began to protest. Slowly his dark ear fell back in irritation. Even one from their own herd was trying to change Vladek’s mind. Even if she was a mare, she had no right to speak against their leader – even if he wasn’t their true herd leader – and it angered him. He was about to toss her a reprimanding glare when several horses from the other herd protested. Well of course they would, that was no surprise at all. He only rolled his deep, ghostly eyes. If they weren’t happy with the offer, they didn’t have to accept, it was as simple as that.

His ear twitched to catch the voice of Levi when he spoke. At last, someone who was willing to agree with Vladek. He nodded his head ever so slightly to show that he stood with them as well. His temperament flipped just that quickly though when this stallion who he was quite sure was called Rambriel spoke up. He couldn’t mistake that voice, a big voice for a big horse, and just as big of a mule it seemed. “Perhaps you would like to reconsider.” He had begun, which honestly didn’t surprise him at all. They all seemed to ask the same thing. When he mentioned them helping the Bachelors later on though, Kyanos’ ear fell flat back against his pole, his eyes growing stormy.

“The Bachelors ask help from no one.” He snapped, his voice for once not cracking. Without it’s wear from misuse, it sounded very bold and demanding, not something that anyone would have trouble hearing either. “And we certainly will not start now. If you don’t like our offer, you can go back to your own land and wait it out. It is your choice, we are not forcing you to do anything.” He was sick of everyone sounded surprised or disgusted. What more did they expect from the Bachelor herd anyways? If Klaus were here, he’d probably be chasing them all back without even giving them a chance anyways.

Rambriel | Exile

Rambriel had remained silent for the majority of the conversation at hand, merely listening and watching. But as soon as Valdek mentioned the 'one mare a moon' tidbit, anger flared in his heart and he stamped a hoof defiantly. He opened his mouth to speak when Matthew spoke brefore him, speaking his thoughts. Rambriel never liked mares, but he knew what the Bachelor herd held for them.

A death glare towards the horse called Levi.

He turned to Kanu, knowing that the lead stallion would not, in good health, accept the offer. But the rage burned in his heart evermore. A small mare spoke up to the leader of the Bachelors; his keen ears picked up her words. How was a mare going to help this situation?

"Perhaps you would like to reconsider." Rambriel's voice was a growl, directed at Vladek. The gears in his mind churned to find a way to offer another option...

"If you do this for us, we will do the same for you if you ever have times of trouble. For I'm sure you know no other herd would willingly help yours." Rambriel offered with a flick of his ear. It was a long shot, but a shot nonetheless.

~~~Levi~~~
Levi perked up alot at Vladek's talk finally he spoke something positive. SOmething worth the bachelor way. This is how it should be done if they didn't like it go back to the dead island and rot. He smiled he had pep in his step and heard Casper speak and Then Natalie. Oh that mare would be a good choice he could shut her up show her who is the real horse. " That is a great idea Vladek. We can always use more to boost our numbers." he spoke out in agreement."You may say you will give us jewels and stuff but I doubt once ya get back on your land you will let us get them. You will have 40 horses that can hold ground against who we would send. I doubt your worth trusting to keep your word when ya get on your feet.This is much more fair. IF you dont like it go back to the ashy hell you came from" He spoke so seriously. They pleaded to stay but why should they stay for free. He didn't care if the mare's didn't like him. It seemed they didn't like him before he just spoke who cares now right?? And the Mare stallions he gave no shits about them either.  Yeah they were in the same herd but he wanted to send them over to the ashy hell the exile's were from. Bachelor way wasn't playing by whose horses they can nurse to health or be nice too. They kicked horse out that don't belong here that don't accept the bachelor code. He honestly waitied for Grange, Apollo, or Fawks to speak up against him. They were the mare stallions and always go to the softer sides of things. They always stuck with the mares and he truthfully did not know why they were here other then suck on teats of the mares. Sucking up to maybe gain mating rights or some thing.  He stared at the Exiles he stood proud tall and dominate. His roman nose long and his nose flared. He wondered if this will send the exiles at them or run like little cowards they were.
Natalie Exile mare
Natalie had remained silent and close to Matthew however being called lower of their species had her temper flaring. Ears flatting against her skull and stepped out from the shadow of Matthew. She was ready to give him a piece of her mind. Hearing what he wanted for payment and she spoke out before her leader. "As if mares are not something you can use as payment!" She snapped at Vladek stepped forward towards him her pale eyes narrowed with anger in them. She doubt Kanu would agree anyways but she wasn't about to wait to find out for sure. She might have fully just gotten herself in trouble but that really wasn't going to stop her. Would have spoken of if no one else had.
She had heard the quiet voice of one of the mares from the bachelors herd but she didn't move her eyes from the stallion in front of her. She could only hope he would change his mind but she highly doubted that.
Matthew | Exile Herd
It seemed like Matthew's fears were crashing down on him all in one day. Give up one mare or colt a moon? This could not be happening. For the price to stay alive, they would be giving up their herd mates lives to live in humiliation and slavitude. Who knows what would happen to them when the rest of the Exiles left to go back to the southern isle.
Matthew hadn’t realized it but his jaw had been hanging open. He quickly shut it and gritted his teeth, swallowing hard. He had literally no idea what to do. Sure, he was smart, but he was nowhere near a negotiator or anything of the like. All he knew what that this couldn’t be the bargain that they settled for. He shifted his weight and gave a nervous glance toward Kanu. Surely their leader wouldn’t settle for it.
He looked back toward Vladek and his stomach turned. The old stallion gave him goose bumps; and yet there was another feeling, deep in the pit of his stomach. Anger. Matthew didn’t get angry often, and when he did it startled even him, but now he embraced it. The Exiles were coming to the Bachelors for aid and they were taking advantage of them.
”No.” Matthew said suddenly, cutting off Casper before Vladek could respond to her. He was still frightened, but the anger was churning inside him, causing his voice to come out as a resounding boom. ”Food and shelter is not an equal trade for the lives of our members. And do not try to convince me that if we gave them up they would not die out on our island, because it would be the same to let them ‘live’ under your reign. They would be no more free than if they were dying already.” Matthew stood up straight now, his anger causing confidence to stir. He wasn’t looking for a physical fight, but he wouldn’t let this bargain stand. ”There must be  another offer.” Now that that burst of anger was out, most of him gave way to compassion once again. His posture never changed, however.
Casper| Broodmare
'One mare a moon'
The words rung in Casper's ear which were now flat against her head, she shot Vladek a quick look of disbelief and if he saw it she did not know for she had already turned her attention back to Kanu. He couldn't agree to that, he absolutely could not! Casper would not just stand by and let innocent horses who were only looking for refuge to have to pay with the freedom of their friends and family. Casper knew if there were horses anything like her in the Exile herd there would be mares and colts volunteering themselves to be given away, and the thought nearly made her sick.
She opened her mouth to say something, but quickly shut it; knowing that whatever she said would be promptly ignored or laughed at. How was she supposed to convince Bachelor stallions of something better than new mares and colts? She shifted in her place slightly, scanning over the Exile horses before turning her gaze back to Vladek, and cleared her throat, "Vladek, sir, is there anyway for me to convince you to reconsider that offer?" she asked him quietly and respectfully, but loudly and confidently enough that she knew she would be heard. Whether she was ignored or not was up to Vladek.
Vladek
    Vladek sighed under his breath, forcing himself to remain calm. However the chuckle that hid under his lips wanted nothing more than to release itself to the horses around him. These exiles wanted charity. Unlike the other herds, the Bachelor herd had rarely paid mind to such unnecessary things like pearls. WVhat would the pearls do for them? The Bachelors didn't hold weddings and as far as Vladek knew the only use of the white shiny rocks was for the celebration of mating vows. What Kanu had to offer to him was nothing. The leader had been smart to try and make nothing sound like something - but Vladek was not so easily phased. He scowled in the presence of the leader - who's eye level bared on his perfectly. They may have been of equal stance, but they were not equal.
    "Kanu" He shook his head in disappointment - sure he'd love to offer them services but Klaus would not accept absolutely nothing in return. "All mares are suited for the life of a brood. Despite what you may think the lower of our species is much stronger than they look." He scoffed at the thought that the exiles might even think that mares were not as strong as their male equals. At the very least, Vladek thought the female species would always be stronger of mind then their male counterparts who dominated so physically. He mused over what Kanu had said - he could see the lead stallion was desperate for help - he was calling his own herd weak! How desperate was he though, that was the question. The leader looked from horse to horse, especially taking a moment to glance at Kyanos and Kaira's expression. For whatever reason, their opinions mattered to him.
    "One mare a moon" He finally added, it seemed like a fair price, " One mare or one colt for every moon that your herd rests on our land. The Bachelor herd will take no more and no less if you accept such an offer. Besides, its your choice which you offer us each month - and if you leave quickly, we'll be recieving the shorter end of the stick. You'll stay on the south side, and come no more than 10 paces into our forests. Two Bachelor guards will watch you constantly - but you will be free to eat our grass and drink from out streams. What do you say?" It was time that someone in the herd had spoken - Vladek knew he had taken his own good time to answer the Exile's plea, but it was a difficult thing to muss over.
Mentioning everyone cause we need to get rp going again! Here are some RP prompts to get your character back into rp
- have your character volunteer to be the mare or colt offered into the bachelor herd
-speak up over your leader! Get angry!
- Offer another option
- Run back to the main herd in fear
- Muss with the horses around you - predict what might happen next?
K A N U--- Exile Lead Stallion---
Kanu kept his eye on Levi, he was not helping the situation at all. He could see the anger in his eyes, but he was the only one with it- everyone else was calm, everyone else was doing what they should be- standing for their herd. He quickly flashed a look over the group of Bachelors, some were steady at hand- looking to the Exiles with serious eyes. Others messed around within themselves, he knew for a fact that the Bachelors weren't a family herd, they didn't care about each other the way the Exiles did.
He didn't show any of his thoughts in his blank expression, making sure his features stayed concreted to the shape that was required. He also knew that many of these horses were possibly absent because they were watching from afar. For all he knew the group could be surrounded by hidden Bachelor horses, so that they wouldn't have a way out if needed. He had hoped the Bachelors wouldn't stoop that low, preparing for a fight that wasn't going to happen.
He nodded at Fawks' idea, although he was speaking quietly, Kanu heard him loud and clear.
”If needed, we will stay where you put us. We will not waste your food or water and we will not come into contact with your herd what-so-ever. If that is what's required.” He said, he knew the only way to get through to them was to crawl, to seem like he was desperate. But not too much, as they would think him weak and turn him away. It was a hard thing to do as they were complicated and he didn't know them well enough to be able to read them as well as he could others. All he could do was tell the truth, and show them all he would take the chance for a better life for his herd.
Grange || Bachelor ||  Grange's ears flicked towards the dun stallion as he glared at himself and Fawks.  Gently, he moved between Fawks and the enormous stallion, wanting to be between them if Levi decided to do something regrettable.  Each time Levi did something, it got on Grange's nerves more and more, until he just wanted to rake his teeth across the horse's face.  And Grange had never been violent.  When Levi mouthed 'shut up', Grange looked surprised.  Could he really be doing this now?  At least he was being quiet about hating his herdmates, rather than dragging it out in the open.  Things had been going just fine; they were bartering with the Exiles; if they were going to try and back out of the deal, the land bridges were still open, and the Bachelors could always kick Exile ass later if need be.  "Don't make things worse," Grange mouthed back, laying his ears flat for a second against his skull.  Negotiations were underway, and the big brute didn't need to get involved.  He turned back around, looking past Fawks to the leaders, waiting to see what they would decide, hoping Vladek would agree to his suggestion as easily as the Exile leader had.
~~Levi~~
Levi just stood there his eye's still glaring at Rembriel. His ears couldnt help flick. YEah right they will give us gems. With 40 horses once they all are good and safe on their land. No he didn't believe that they would hold their end of the bargain. What would they do send all the bachelors for some gems highly doubt it.  Then Fawks and Grange started to talk. He just cringed as their mouths spoke mainly Grange's mouth was running. Shut up just shut up. He didn't want these horses here hell if they died so be it  the predators will be fat and happy and not bother them.This is far from the valley it wouldnt make a lick of difference. He just looked over the three to Grange and Fawks. Giving them the most biggest glare ever. He knew his opinion might just fuck everything up that there may be fighting hell he would love it right now. He didn't want to be murdered by the bachelor herd. "Shut up" He just mouthed softly like their banter did not help any. He wanted to rip them and the exiles apart. He snorted very loudly.
