Introduction to "Making the first Move"

Objective: Travel to the Southern Isle and seek out any survivors of the Fire that once raged over the land.

Klaus and is half of the Bachelor herd made their way quickly as they could to the northern most land, pushing forward to see if the Olde had come onto their territory. They knew the oldest herd on Chevalin to be quite peculiar in their ways, so even as the northern most herd's laws spoke that they should not cross the land bridges - the Bachelors knew to be ready for anything, and ready they were.

At first it was not quite obvious, but once they made it to the edge of their land they could see - the tiny specs that made up the Olde herd on the other side of the Island. This made the Bachelors not only extremely nervous, but somehow furious. Why did the Olde dare to come so close to their territory. Of course, the with the land bridges about to sink they had no choice but to sit and stay to watch. It seemed both herds had missed the chance to cross over to the other territories however - as neither herd had tried by the time the water filled its way over the small strip of land that covered their Islands.

Feeling almost safe again, Klaus ordered his herd to stay at the border to watch... at least for a few days. However, the feeling of fury returned to the horses of the east Island as something peculiar happened. The Olde herd didn't move on. Away from their praying pools and on the edge of their little world - the rival herd stayed - and that was when Klaus knew. He and his herd would have to play guard dog until the next solstice ended. However, the weeks between the openings passed -- and tomorrow the land bridges are set to open again.

The Bachelor herd in the north must quickly come to a conclusion: Why is the Olde herd still on their border? And who should make the first move when the ocean walls fall.

Will the Bachelors see the Olde move on? Or will Vasska's herd come to them? Should they attack? Or is there any reason to defend?

RP opens/Begins on January 10th

Some Olde Herd horses may be moving into this RP soon - Keep an eye out ;D

Daemyn

Oh gosh, this landbridge was getting cramped. Horses in front, horses behind and strangers squeezing past massive Bachelors. He stood stunned, nailed to the spot with flaring nostrils and blue eyes locked on Ronin, who had charged him. Who. Had. Charged. Him. Him, Daemyn, the giant lamb of a stallion. He'd never faced such animosity aimed at his own huge bulk. He'd been witness to fights and brawls, bloody gashes from arguments that got way out of hand, but the most he had ever experienced himself were hard nips and the threat of a kick or two. No other horse had ever broken his skin, no other horse had ever laid a hoof on him. Words were enough to send him into a retreat, albeit a slow, slinking one.

It felt as if the howling wind and cold water had finally managed to freeze is legs solid and the chill was advancing through his body. He began to shake gently, completely unable to gain control of the frantic mess of emotions broiling around inside. Disbelief, shock, fear all bounding around in his head. That stallion... this Ronin would he truly have attacked if not stopped and blocked by this new form which Dae hardly noticed? No, no, he'd probably have faked it, simply meaning to stir some trouble. He wouldn't actually have hurt Dae... would he?

Daemyn took a step back on stiff legs as he blinked his eyes. A new stallion. Blocking the advancement of Bachelors, protecting the mares. Good, because Dae suddenly felt like he'd made the worst mistake in his life and he longed to have stayed behind at the Prayer Pool with his mother. He was just a colt after all, a foal.... a fool.

Troy | Loner

Dingo stepped out and went to play Hero for his "friend" Ziara. The mare was a hotty, but Troy wasn't particularly interested in that right now. The many familiar Bachelors around him were causing quiet the commotion and it was was entertaining. But Troy had to get to the Olde herd and find his crazy friend, and take her away from the on coming war zone. Assuming what Ba'Yagu had told the loners would even come to pass.

He followed Dingo's path, awkwardly passing the big bachelors with their scarred faces, just like his own. His father wasn't there, but Troy didn't care much for him anyway. As he walked across the landbridge, a dark butt was in his was and he tried to step around. But Cedrik's rump bounced him into the waves, and Troy spluttered as he was drenched. Anger bubbled under his rusty chestnut coat, and he got to his feet with a curse.

"Mind your fat behind, you moron."  He was far scrawnier than Cedrik, but Troy didn't care. As soon as his words were over, his teeth were biting down on that large lump of rump angrily. "Idiot. Hell forbid you ever get to reproduce."

Troy glared at the lesser idiot of a horse before attempting to move on past Dingo and the other Olde herd horses.

The black behemoth was beginning to get agitated from all the madness his fellow bachelor stallions were causing. With this newly found agitation, his attention was focused fully ahead on Ronin and the large stallion 'Dae'. Then he shifted his gaze to one of his other fellow members, along with Klaus, seeing them chase after the Pinto and try to restrain the idiotic stud. Then a random loner stallion decides to appear in front of one the Olde group, trying to 'protect' them.

Sighing heavily, and not realising someone was next to his large rump, he shifted his position closer to the edge of the landbridge. Then his purple eyes widened as he looked back to see a unknown stallion let out a yelp of surprise and the salty taste of seawater enter his gaping mouth.

And for some reason, the only thing he could think to say was...

"Uhhh....."

BRUTUS | Guard

“Hear that boys? ‘How dare I!’” The belgian behemoth’s falsetto voice to imitate Ziara’s was downright laughable, and had it been a different situation, he was sure even the opposing herd would have laughed aloud like he was doing now. Anyone telling him what the friesian could or could not do was ludicrous, and he even had a line with Klaus with what he could and could not boss him around with. Thankfully for them both, the mutual respect kept that line at a distance.

More drivel poured from the brood’s lips, something about her not yielding to him or maybe she didn’t care what he said, but Brutus had already accomplished his mission of ruffling her feathers, and had since moved on to more interesting things.

Such as the flurry of motion that appeared to be two of his herdmates going for Ronin at once, one trying* to bite his withers—as if that would have stopped the buckskin—and Klaus using himself as a barrier between him and his target. Well there went any sort of further amusement. Feeling one of his hocks falling asleep, he shifted his two-ton weight onto his other leg and heaved a massive sigh.

Wait, when did the brood get so big?

The newcomer, Dingo, as he had yet to discover, stood in front of the brood. He was a hand taller than Ronin, but looked no thicker, so he dismissed him as a threat immediately. What unnerved him about the horse was that he had not pushed from the back of the Olde’s party, he skittered past the Bachelors like a rat. It did not process to Brutus how the horse, especially of his size, had managed to make it past the entire rest of the herd that stood waiting at the mouth of the land bridge, and then somehow made it, unnoticed, around their entire party, including Cedrik’s huge ass. He credited the horse only making it to the Oldes when Ronin broke forward, otherwise there was no room on the bridge, seeing how it was only wide enough for the three large horses abreast.

No matter, it wasn’t like the brute to care about such things anyways. No matter how ridiculous it was for him to just show up, he was here now, and he was on the wrong team as far as Brutus was concerned.

Talking over the cluster that was Ronin and Klaus, he rolled his eyes. “Pffff. And just who the hell are you?” It was voiced as a question, but you wouldn’t have known it from the inflection in Brutus’s voice. He might as well have been yawning.

Ziara | Guard
The Land Bridge

Ziara's ears flicked back and forth out of their pinned position after she had spoken to brutus. She couldn't see over the wall of tall bachelors infront of her but could hear another horse approaching from behind them... Or was it two?
Suddenly before she knew it the tall cream stallion was towering in front of her protectively as she looked up at him in utter disbelief. Where had he just come from? Was it a coincedence he had arrived just in time to stop her from getting even more angry?
The look he had given her surely did the trick, suddenly she was at loss for words...

Was he protecting her or simply standing up against these horrid bachelors? Oh unicorns, it was bad enough half her friends were in danger but now dingo too? She slowly turned her head to face the rest of the scouting group. They didnt know this mysterious loner after all right? Hey eyes flicked to dae, she hadnt even told her best friend she had met Dingo a while ago... surely enough her eyes flicked to Charlie next, sudden shock hitting in with a sickening feeling to her stomach. She felt panicked for some reason but this time it had nothing to do with the bachelors but it was because of her own feelings.
What was happening? Sudden confliction hit her like a wave, the seconds everyone was silent seemed to stretch on forever as she begged to the unicorns Vasska would be here soon. She prayed for this conflict to be solved. Between the herds as well as in her heart.

Dingo l Stallion l Loner

The massive loner visibly cringed at his companion’s outspoken persona, and his jaw clenched nervously at Troy’s loud exclamation. Part of him was glad for it, however; now he had to go out there.  Inhaling deeply, he gave the chestnut stallion beside him a look that quite clearly illustrated the phrase:  Please try not to get into trouble., before he shouldered his way through the undergrowth onto the beach.  His heartbeat temporarily quickened as a bachelor stallion lunged at a doe-eyed Olde  male, and he lifted a foreleg to race forward, but it seemed another horse had beaten him to it, clamping down its jaws on the charger’s withers;  he found it surprising that that stallion was also a Bachelor, but quickly shook that thought away. Dingo sprang into a heavy set canter, hooves thudding softly on the sand as he circled around the group of Bachelors, skidding to an abrupt stop to stand in front of the Olde search party. He shot a look at Ziara, as though pleading her to quieten down, before he arched his neck defensively, his huge bulk shielding the mares.  He knew not what Troy would do, but after all, that was none of his business, he supposed.

While his remark had seemed to give him points with the Olde horses, Klaus was not amused, to say the  least. After making Klaus angry (again), Judea had stepped back and stayed quiet, letting the other horses bicker and fight and whatnot. He didn't really care what the Olde Herd was up to, and from what he had heard so far this was all one big misunderstanding, and neither of the herds really wanted anything to do with each other. His thoughts wandered longingly back to Robin...was she ok? Was Jacamo beating her senseless? Who knew. He gazed longingly back at the East isle, ignoring the rest.

Until Ronin barreled past him.

Was the giant idiot really trying to start a FIGHT? Surly he knew that this would not be a mere scuffle, it would escalate into WAR! He heard Klaus shouting, Brutus laughing, some of the others yelling and carrying on, but he became focused on Ronin. Maybe Judea was not the most entirely obedient stallion, but he had no desire to stand by and let Ronin start a war. He swept forward, leaping through the water, and managed to bite down on Ronins withers, fully expecting to be shaken off and kicked but hoping to buy enough time for Klaus to reach them.

Ziara | Guard
On the land bridge

The tall brute responded to her in a taunting way which definitely made the golden mare's blood boil as she gritted her teeth glaring up at the building of a horse. She wasn't scared of him, no matter how much he towered over her, and she wasn't scared of their leader either. She was just about to open her mouth to reply, her wavy tail flicking in annoyance, as Ronin charged at the group which only lead to Klaus and others bellowing loudly. Her ears rang as she pinned them against her neck and snorted in discomfort with all the loud shouts.
She ignored their scolding towards their own, and as much as she wanted to join Ciarra in laughing, she was too angry to care. How dare Brutus mention the fact that some othe mare had replaced her horrible faith when she had left the bachelors, it had her mind spinning to even think of the poor soul. Oh, but he knew that. That's exactly why he had said it.
"Oh yes, what an utmost pleasure it was." she snarled sarcastically as she glared at him intently with golden eyes.
At his second words her eyes went wide and she stomped a front hoof down in protest as a disgusted expression curled at her lips,
"How dare you. Do you not think I know the consequences of my escape from your despicable herd? Even if I had stayed, it would not have meant the end of the bachelors stealing more mares so don't think for a second you are smart enough to guilt trip me Brutus. After everything all of you did to my sister and I, you really think I'm going to break over some pathetic attempt to shame me for what I've done? Tsk!" She scoffed as she raised her head at him.
"Don't make me laugh."

Troy l Stallion l Loner

(Troy joins this roleplay thread.)

Nope. Troy was not going to stay quiet. Who didn't know the meaning of the word.

"FEW! I thought we were gunna run till we hit the other side of the dam planet!"  He leaned back and panted, wiping the sweat from his brow on the inside of his forearm. Glancing over to Dingo, he immediately saw the mare he spoke of earlier. His.. "friend".

A low wolf whistle flew from his lips, and Troy bumped shoulders with his travel companion. "She's a hotty! A bit stupid for standing up to Bachelors like that, but it is sorta hot."

Troys eyes looked over the Bachelors before them. He had only left the herd six months ago, and he knew nearly every face there. He wasn't sure how any of them would greet the rude and obnoxious Troy who had abandoned their herd. If he cared, he would surely be anxious, but to any that looked his way he just grinned his ridiculous grin. Beside Ziara was a familiar mare to Troy, Ciarra. A purr rumbled in his throat at the beauty he had a.. close friendship with. Troy liked the chimeric mare, but she was not the mare he had traveled all this way to find. She must be with Vasska and the rest of Olde..

"What are you waiting for? Go to your Damsel, Dingo!"

Dingo l Stallion l Loner

(Dingo joins this roleplay thread.)

After what felt an eternity, at last the massive stallion and his companion had arrived. Dingo sheltered in the gloom of the trees that fringed the shoreline, his head low and ears pricked, eyes dark with intent as he searched the horses that stood there, only fully interested in finding the features of one in particular. Breath huffed quietly from his flared nostrils as he recovered from his enduring gallop. A slight film of sweat dampened his coat, but his bland blue gaze remained sharp as it flicked from horse to horse, with the occasional glance to the loud mouthed paint beside him. For the love of unicorns, please let Troy hold his tongue.

There! His eyes landed with both dread and relief on the pale golden coat of his friend, Ziara. As he'd expected, she was right at the forefront; he felt panic trickle through him as she spoke defiantly up against the huge bachelors, muzzle raised proudly. Zi... What are ya doin'? He thought desperately, longing to leap from his cover and bowl over the lot of the brutes in his wake. He glanced once more at Troy, before he bit his tongue to stop himself from bellowing a challenge. Stay calm. Wait for the right moment; I could just make this worse.

Ciarra | Olde Adviser

Oh yeah, this Ronin guy did not seem to have anything larger than a walnut for a brain. She laughed so hard that almost no noise was coming out, as he thought he was such a big, tough stallion by disobeying his leader and charging at someone who'd not even looked at him. Her laugh was nearly muted by the other jug headed stallion, Brutus, however. Perhaps she was disobeying her own orders, but these guys were just too funny! Though, she was right about her previous thoughts; the biggest black stallion with the white mane, and the smaller grey appaloosa seemed to be the ones with the most sense. Though, even their leader was showing a bit now.

As much as she wanted to reach up and yank a nice piece of Ronin's mane out of his head, she would not allow herself to. They were suppose to be a peaceful presence, and the pleasure of making this imbecile shriek was not worth war- of that much she was sure. So she kept herself composed. He would get what was coming to him from his leader.

Ciarra gave a small nod to the one known as Miles. His presence wasn't threatening, at least, and that much she appreciated. He seemed to be put off by his fellows ignoring his words. She could sympathize with that. Vasska ignored her words at times too. There were a few who hadn't said much at all on their opposite side, leaving a faint hope that not every Bachelor was an air headed dunce.

Klaus | Lead Stallion

Insubordination was running rampant today. Klaus would blame it on the full moon or other such nonsense had it actually been one. But the cause of this outrageousness didn't matter. It only mattered that it ended.

The friesian to sense Miles moving behind him, but whether from apprehension or impatient, he didn't know. Brutus, thankfully, left his onslaught verbal. That wouldn't start a war, just rustle some feathers. Everything was fine. It was going to plan and Vasska would be on his way. Had Ronin not been such a... a... Testosterone driven dunderhead. When the golden mare had used Brutus' and Ronin's names, Klaus had found himself distracted. He'd racked his memories for a face, a name. While he was distracted, that was when Ronin had made his move. The shire mix was heading straight towards the Olde stallion... the large, colt-like one in the back.

Great. Just great. He stopped babysitting for one second and everything was on the verge of being soiled.

"Ronin, what the HELL are YOU doing?! Didn't Klaus JUST SAY to STAY PUT?!" Cedrik suddenly bellowed by his side.

That was the second time in the past hour or two that Klaus was sure he'd gone deaf. Klaus flattened his ears, but his eyes were wide in what might have been terror. Ronin couldn't attack an Olde horse... not yet anyway. How was Klaus supposed to speak to Vasska on peaceful terms if blood was shed?

The Friesian, who in most circumstances wouldn't dare charge a horse as big as Ronin on a good day (or dive into a circle of enemy horses, for that matter), jolted forward, hoping he could cut off Ronin before he reached the stallion called 'Dae'.

But Klaus never had been the fastest horse.

"ENOUGH! RONIN!"

His words had reached no one. His ears pinned back even farther onto his head and he backed up, behind the giants. There was no point in even speaking up when the hot-headed ones ruled the conversation. Miles dipped his head as he found himself at the back of the Bachelor's half of the horses, turning around to witness Ronin launch himself forward, and against Klaus' wishes. There was no point in even saying anything to anyone now. The nerves and bitterness towards one another made the whole situation chaotic. It was only going to get worse, and Miles intended to let the ones who started the chaos finish it.

He had said his piece, and if he was to be ignored, then screw them. They could bite, kick, beat each other till they bled into the ocean for all he cared. It was weird to think like this, as Miles had always been gentle and calm, but he had had enough of being the beaten joke of the herd. If any of the Oldes were to break through the giants in front, they had to go through him. But...that was going to be only thing to get Miles to do anything until someone with more power calmed the storm between the herds.

BRUTUS | Guard

When the guard had first opened his mouth, his only intention was to rile the little Oldies up, to remind them of just what horrors his herd was capable of. And for one of their party, it had actually worked.

"Ronin, Brutus how about you shut it for once? Everyone's getting sick of…” What came next was not of Brutus’s concern, as he had already erupted into thunderous laughter, his timber enough to shake the land bridge. Oh now this was priceless. A sickening grin crawled across his maw as he zeroed in on the little golden brood with them.

“What do we have here? Call us by name? That can only mean you must have had the pleasure to dine with us a while. Is there anyone back home you wish us to pass your condolences to?” He of course had no idea who she was, or even recognized her design. Broods were broods, and even though she had obviously escaped, broods were easily replaced. “Perhaps the mare who took your place?”

That was when Ronin caught his peripheral, charging forward like the bull he was. He didn’t exactly support the action, as it would simply drive the Oldes backwards, towards their island and against Klaus’s orders, but Ronin was one of the few stallions he had mutual respect for, so he did nothing as the pinto locked onto the giant lamb in the back. He hoped one of the broods tried to fight him. Now that was something he’d watch.

{ Cedrik | Guard }
______________________________________________________________

As Cedrik watched the stallion “kasai” run off to fetch the Olde herd leader, Cedrik was starting to get completely annoyed with how immature Ronin and Brutus were being towards the Olde herd group. Talking about about how the last broods they captured wanted a real stallion. Cedrik couldn't help but mentally laugh at their “conversation”. It was getting so ridiculous to the point he could see that Klaus was starting to get even more pissed off and was basically sending off waves of annoyance towards the two stallion’s childish conversation.  Cedrik sighed in annoyance, along with Klaus radiating anger, and shifted his position looked off into the ocean.

The light grey sky reflection bounced nonchalantly on the gentle blue waves of the mighty sea. Cedrik felt at peace, staring off into unknown. It gave his constantly whirling mind to finally be at peace for once. He shut his eyes for a brief moment, enjoying the sea breeze caressing his scarred forehead. That's when the black stallion was beginning to feel uneasy, it was too quiet. Way to quiet. The kind of quiet where he could hear the waves colliding into the cliffs of The islands. When he opened his eyes again, Ronin interrupted his peace of mind and was doing the most idiotic thing ever by charging the Olde herd group, basically begging for a fight.

Then Cedrik did the most abnormal thing he could have ever done in his life.

A growl formed in his throat , the pupils in his violet eyes becoming ever so tiny, and the black behemoth let out an earsplitting roar.

"Ronin, What the HELL are YOU doing?! Didn't klaus JUST SAY to STAY PUT!"

Cedrik was pulsing with anger, his body basically radiating more anger than Klaus could ever comprehend. But one thing for sure is Cedrik would have left this alone if the situation wasn't involving another Herd. But it was, and Cedrik was taking this seriously, unlike some of the other guards, and He wasn't about to tolerate Ronin's idiocy.

Daemyn

Daemyn felt genuinely happy that he had helped moved the situation along by sending one of the scouts to fetch Vasska. He arched a brow in surprise as the black stallion, the herd Leader, demanded none other leave and ordered his stallions to make sure of it. Had the Olde scouts not made it clear that their intentions weren't hostile? That they were simply looking to protect their lands, just as the Bachelors were?

He shifted his weight in the cold shallow water, sand slipping underneath his hooves and generally proving to be a shifty ground to stand on. He was so focused on finding a comfortable position, that the first few taunted words went over his head. His attention didn't jerk to Ronin, until the goatee-stallion called out: 'Yo! Daft behemoth!'

Daemyn's soft, gentle blue eyes blinked a few times before he realised that he was being insulted, that the mares of his herd and more importantly friends, were being insulted. He'd never confronted hostility like this before, sure pure malice. It confused him... but more importantly it stirred that angry thing in his chest, clutching his heart and making it hard to breath as a slight red color rose to his cheeks.

''I ain't a brood, '' he replied as his brow knit in mild irritation, before Ciarra's words brought him to silence. He had too much respect for the Adviser to be unaffected by her. Ziara's words helped too. They calmed the pain in his chest, and he bobbed his big head in agreement, shooting the Bachelor stallions a wide grin. HAH!

Ziara | Guard

Listening to the various comments being thrown around she could feel her blood boiling with annoyance and memories of her previous life in the bachelors wanting to do something about it but Ciarra had commanded them to stay calm and by the unicorns, she tried.
However, as the stallions she recognized to be Ronin and Brutus started taunting Dae with their words she felt her teeth grind but her hoofs were frozen to the ground. She wouldn't let them talk to her dear friends like that, these filthy brutes.
She closed her eyes with a frown as her impulsive nature took the better of her logical thinking and she snapped at the two immature bachelors.
"Ronin, Brutus how about you shut it for once? Everyone's getting sick of hearing your obnoxious voices and frankly we're not impressed with your little colt behaviour. The only reason your trying to get at Dae is because you wish you could be half the stallion that he is."
She glared at the two, her confidence somewhat stemming from the fact that they hadn't really recognized her up to now as having been part of their herd.
She shot an apologetic look at the chimera mare in front of her but Ziara was only trying to act to actually prevent her snapping completely. If they talked dirt about her friends she would have their heads but now that she had hopefully redirected their attention to her, she didn't care what they did to her. Whatever they had to say or do couldn't make her even a fraction as angry as if they did it to the ones she cared about.

Ciarra | Olde Adviser

The mare tilted her ears to the side, keeping a radar on her herd mates. She was worried about Charlie in particular saying something back to encourage the daft behemoth to continue his.... foal-ish behavior. "Do not react. Answer only if Klaus speaks." Ciarra kept her tone low, so only the friendlies would hear. Surely the oaf was making too much commotion with his oh so original insults. Pff. Real stallions? These acted like mere colts.

Ciarra did not give way to the larger stallion. The mare would not be pushed around or intimidated by one of them, the worst they could do was cause her physical pain. The chimera didn't care. Legs cemented in place, she merely sighed quietly. Hopefully Kasai would have no trouble finding Vasska and the rest of the herd. If the oh-so-scary Bachelors were going to act like foals throwing their weight around, Ciarra was going to shove her hooves in their mouths.

The mosaic mare pivoted slightly, facing the other Olde members now. The Bachelors that held her attentions moments earlier had lost her interest. If anything, the mare was bored. Disappointed, even. They hadn't wanted to run into the herd, anyway- she hoped that if they had to run into them that they would at least live up to her expectations.

It could go without saying that Ronin’s demeanor hadn’t changed much during the group’s exchange of words, if anything he’d become antsier by the minute, by the syllable even. The stallion continued to prance about in the shallows, sloshing water here, there, and everywhere. He might’ve called eventually, but something about Klaus’ words caught his attention.

“Let none but one leave.”

To Ronin, that was as good as outright permission to cause trouble. Ears flicked forward and back when the one dubbed ‘Kasai’ finally turned and went off, as instructed ironically, leaving the remainder of the Olde’s scouting party standing there on the narrow bridge. Perfect.

I remember, they certainly didn’t put up much of a fuss...” Ronin smirked devilishly, turning to glance towards Brutus as he answered, “I’d say they were excited to be taken, finally get to see some real stallions in action.” Full of himself? You bet. Ronin turned his attention back to the gathered horses, zeroing in on the Brute that lumbered quietly in the background. “Yo! Daft behemoth, why’re you standin’ behind your broods? Too much of a brood yourself to stand before your lessers? Or maybe you’re too much of a punk to protect ‘em?” Ronin hollered from where he stood, a few steps in front of his bachelor brethren.

If that’s the case... Maybe I’ll take them from you, they’re obviously better off with us, you know... real stallions and all.” With that, Ronin burst forward at his usual lumbering gait, fully intent on bulling the poor Olde horses that stood together on the narrow bridge, someone was bound to get wet by the end of it. Ronin didn’t care, his foolhardy nature blinded him to the potential danger of charging into a bunch of hostile horses, he always had a thing for getting into scrapes, and hopefully the brute he’d called out would provide some entertainment.

BRUTUS | Guard

To be quite honest, Brutus had dozed off with his eyes open. Not that it looked anything different from his brooding expression when he was awake, but the mindless drivel the horses amongst them were spitting gave him no pause. There was no threat in his eyes. Not in this pathetic band, nor in the entire herd of Olde. He almost felt like he would have been more useful with Vladek, wondering how the situation was on the opposite pole of the island. Surely if something arose, Cedrik and Ronin would be able to handle it combined.

He had felt Kasai’s burning glare on him since they arrived, but he had attributed it to the fact that he was the meanest, ugliest brute standing among the bachelors, and was used to that sort of staring. It wasn’t until Klaus spoke and moved that he was brought to attention again, and realized that the silver stallion’s glare wasn’t unfamiliar to him. Sure, he couldn’t remember where from, but it had to have been in his favor to get such a look, which made him smirk broadly.

Unfortunately for him, he was unable to make a retort before the stallion was assigned to fetch the wannabe-unicorn. He watched him scamper off as he shook his entire body from nose to tail as if rising from a roll. Deciding they were all just going to stand there and stare at each other like idiots, he instead decided a little irking wouldn’t hurt while they were killing time.

Hey Ronin,” He grinned, looking over to the other draft. “Remember last Rolic and the mares we stole from the Olde herd? So easy wasn’t it?” He sneered, the “we” meaning the Bachelor herd in general, not the two of them specifically, but he didn’t care what they thought.

Kasai | Olde Herd Scout

Kasai snorted in displeasure, but he gave a small nod of understanding and agreement when Ciarra looked at him. He would listen to her if she told him to leave, not Klaus. And Ciarra had told him to go and find Vasska. The stallion had to wonder if Obscura had already gone to get the king, but they couldn't leave that to chance; not with a war party standing opposite them, demanding to see Vasska.

"I'll be back as soon as possible," he said under his breath to Ciarra before turning with a slight rear and then carefully slipping by the other scouts. He really didn't want to knock anyone off the bridge, and there was only so much room for them here. He glanced at Daemyn as he passed by the larger stallion, giving him a concerned expression. He was worried for everyone here. He got to leave and get away from this madness--even if he didn't want to--but the rest of the group would be stuck. He just had to hope that everything would go smoothly from here on out.

Kasai was finally facing open bridge. He walked a few feet and then turned to look at the scouts one last moment, and then took off at a full gallop. He heard the wolves soon after and it nearly stopped him in his tracks. That was not good. But he had to keep going. If the scouts were going to come back as a group and in one piece, they would need Vasska to do it.

Teutorigos Killough -
Killough was glad to see that Miles was as welcoming as him, it was nice in its own way to have him as company. It was also rather amusing to see him copying Tori's attempt at seeing the olde patrol easier. However his comment threw Tori off and for a moment he contemplated if he could trust Miles. "I was hoping there wouldn't be any." He watched the other stallion carefully, waiting to see his reaction. Judea’s words got his attention though and he inwardly cringed, he was practically asking for Klaus to get mad at him. Sure enough, their black leads voice rose to a roar, and then it seemed like a flurry of talking. All these olde where insisting they didn't want war, they were just scouting, Tori believed it easily enough. And though he remained calm, everyone else had their ‘hackles raised’.

Then Miles did something he found mildly stupid, he walked up next to Klaus just as Judea had. Tori had honestly expected them same reaction from his leader, but he simply ignored him,' good maybe he has calmed down?' Tori had to agree with most of what Miles said, though it seemed no one listened to him. The conversation was going downhill fast and Tori felt he had no way to get it back to a peaceful meeting (as if it ever had been) When Klaus told them to move his anxiety shot up like a rocket, he pranced in place wanting not to move forward but knowing he should. There was no telling what kind of 'punishment' he would receive if he refused. Slowly he crept forward and placed himself next to Miles.

Ciarra | Olde Adviser

Giving into her impulsiveness for a brief moment, Ciarrra let out a huff of laughter. This stallion could not give them orders, he was not their king. He ruled a bunch of brutal stallions, sure, but Vasska ruled the brains of the operation here- Klaus' lot was merely the brawn. "Alright, Klaus," she spoke his name not with distaste, merely that she wanted to be certain she got it right. "We will stay with you for... Whatever reason- Not because you told us to, but because it is what we decided as a council." The mare held her confidence, the stallions were far lower on the fear totem-pole than she had put them. Mostly, it seemed they were more control freaks than anything, going by the aura of their friesian leader.

"We've already told you our intentions, Vasska will tell you the same, but if you want to waste your time and ours..." Ciarra tossed her forelock before finishing, turning her head to Kasai and giving him a small nod accompanied with a smile, as if to assure him that they would be fine. "Then we will send Kasai to find Vasska. However, he has lead the rest of the herd to shelter- We aren't certain of his location." With a shrug, Ciarra finished her thoughts. She hadn't realized how 110% she sounded done with this guy by the last five words- his opinion had been formed as soon as he'd seen that there was no Vasska with them, and there was nothing their small group could do. Except maybe turn tail and flee, but that's not the kind of op Ciarra ran.

Klaus

Klaus watched the conversation unfold before him. As the words leapt from horse to horse, Klaus simply watched in exasperation; he found no opportune moment to leap into the fray, the words flowed so quickly. As Miles spoke up, and the friesian remembered to say something about it later, but mainly for the stallion's disobedience to his earlier orders to keep his mouth shut. The dappled horse's soft, pathetic words went unheard after all, no need to bring attention to them now.

The direction of the sentence continued to travel. Klaus had to surpress a small smile as Ronin commented. In his peripheral vision, Klaus watched as the shire shifted about. Antsyness was coming off the larger horse in waves. It was then that it all went downhill.

The Silver black Olde stallion spat some bullshit words that degraded the bachelors and their leader. The friesian's mouth twitched into a scowl as his ears flattened. Legs developing a mind of their own, Klaus took a step closer to the other stallion before stopping himself. The chimera mare towards the front must have noticed, because she threw in her slop of words too. They were lost by the boiling rage that filled Klaus' hearing, however, and Klaus began to raise his lips into a snarl. What the lead stallion was about to say.

''Maybe someone oughta fetch the King,"

Dark eyes snapped up suddenly. Klaus looked at the largest of the Olde horses, who stood demurely in the back of the pack. He was big enough to match Brutus to be sure. The beat of his heart hitch for a moment... until Klaus noticed this stallion held no air of strength about him. He looked as if he was a colt in a full grown horse's body.

''...Kasai's pretty fast, ''

"Send your 'Kasai'," Klaus demanded, not knowing the names of these strangers. He straightening his neck. Perhaps not all these horses were ignorant. Maybe they were beginning to realize his demands weren't as preposterous as they were making them out to be." Send your horse; none others shall leave until I speak with Vasska."

These horses weren't about to get away without answers from their leader. Klaus wasn't about to wait another couple months just to speak to their leader again, after the bridges resurfaced. He turned his head, one eye on his stallions behind him, another on the pack in front. "Let none but one leave," he ordered, stepping into the shallows to allow his horses room to move closer alongside him.

Daemyn

The stallion stayed on the mares' left flank behind them but close enough to swoop in instantly, should any of the brutes turn aggressive. He stood pressed against the lapping waves, two hooves in and fetlocks soaked by the icy water, though seemingly not troubled by it. Truth was he didn't actually notice the cold at this point as his skin was near numb from the lashing wind, and his focus entirely on the conversation and stinging words. He understood the importance of keeping this exchange calm. Not only did he wish for no harm to come to his herd mates and close friends, but they had been send as a scouting party to simply look. He felt simply gut-wrenching awful as they had been unable to stick to orders. Vasska would be disappointed... Vasska would be angry.

The bellowing of the Bachelor Leader, this Klaus startled the golden stallion to a point where he jerked sideways, splashing water and drenching all four hooves. He snorted heavily, ears flicking this way and that having not anticipated such a loud sound all of a sudden. He did not put up a very intimidating image at the moment, despite muscles and bulk.

Daemyn listened silently as the conversation went on, chewing thoughtfully on the request to fetch Vasska. Well... personally he didn't think anyone could speak on behalf of the King, unless he had stated so directly, and he hadn't. Also they had broken the order of scouting and surely the King himself would want to speak with this Bachelor Leader, than have a random flock from his herd assume they could parley.

''Maybe someone oughta fetch the King, '' he said quietly, though loud enough for all to hear. His voice was deep and dark, a little rough at the edges but all together pleasant, walking hand-in-hand with his teddy-bear demeanour. ''I mean, we were only supposed to scout not talk. Straight across, see who they are, and back again, '' he added, recalling the rough version of their orders. ''...Kasai's pretty fast, '' he added after a thoughtful pause, having raced the other stallion once or twice.

Daemyn then cleared his throat, shifting his weight awkwardly.

Ciarra | Olde Adviser

As Kasai's words hit Ciarra's ears, she cringed inwardly at his word choice. The fury radiating from his dark body could almost be seen, like steam rolling from his pelt. The chimera could only hope this wouldn't trigger anything- but she wouldn't scold him. He had the right to his words. She eyed the opposing stallions. The harder she looked, the more she agreed with Kasai. They did look like they could easily cause a confrontation, as if that's what they were looking for, other than just intimidation and explaining themselves. Typical Bachelors, Ciarra thought.

"Vasska put the needs of the many above the few, that is all." Her tone remained calm, though the mare was half bummed that she didn't get to see the other island more. Though with all these... Stallions here, she had a feeling she probably wouldn't have gotten far anyway. They had this nasty habit of taking mares that didn't exactly belong to them. Actually, she seemed to remember that Ziara had escaped from the life of a broodmare before she had become a part of Olde. Ciarra thought a moment; the chimera would be a terrible Bachelor mare. She chuckled inwardly.

The others in their scout had been fairly quiet, aside from the smart-alec Charlie and the occasional comments from Zia and Kas. Dae hadn't said much, either, though hopefully his size would do the talking for him. No real slip-ups had happened yet, fortunately. Though if Kasai kept himself angry, it may happen sooner rather than later. The mare swallowed.
