Description Sennelier, Schmincke soft pastels, smooth side of Canson Mi Teintes pastel paper.
Got part of my order of pastel papers from DickBlick.com today. They screwed up - all my Canson Mi Teintes papers and boards were still there, despite me having cancelled them after my initial experience with the Canson papers... and the Wallis sanded papers that I've been waiting for for the past month and a half are now on back-order indefinitely...
So, this time, I'm trying out the OTHER side of the Canson Mi Teintes paper. Needed something quick and relatively uncomplicated, just to see how it handles.
I must say, the smoother side of the Mi Teintes was a bit easier to work on - at least, with the soft Sennelier and Schmincke pastels.

(Wow... EVERY time I draw from a print-out I find out that the original image onscreen has been changed - cropped, colour-shifted, contrast dimmed... of course, I don't find out until I've digitized my work and compare both onscreen!)

Very nice drawing and an very original viewpoint.
Pity you still don't have the sanded paper, I'm sure
you'll love that.
Anyway you can use your Mi Teintes like this, I've tried
that too, but wasn't very happy with that either. Though it's indeeed better than the other side.

Thank you, dear! Yeah, I was all excited hoping I'd finally get that Wallis... Oh well. At least, I just got ArtSpectrum Suede papers, will see how they work...

Working on the suede now... Feels gorgeous, but fills out WAY too quickly :-/ Have not dared to touch the velour paper yet... Don't want to ruin it just yet ;-D

I've never used suede, looks a lot like velours I suppose?

Never used bellies yet, though looks like the suede is smoother... And harder. Having a rather frustrating experience with it right now :-S but I guess that's natural for learning and discovering, right? :-D
