Description For the love of God, FULL VIEW PLEASE!

Referring to those nice summer showers. Can't wait for them.<3

I've been working on this for awhile now. And I've found a genius way to make sure I put a lot of effort into the background; do it first and work on the fun part last. Hey, it works.

The glowing spots on the shrooms were added on a whim, it looked a little plain without them. It needed some pizazz. X]

Quite a few hours were invested in this. So please enjoy.
Download for massive view.

What?!! Oh my gosh, no way..... *cries* I just critiqued your work yesterday that was a full page long and it didn't go through.

Will critique again because it's not your fault that the critique didn't go through. (will go a little more brief, though because I can't remember everything I've written).

I like the raindrops and detail you put into the rain on the large mushroom, but am a little sad that you didn't play with the idea more on the other mushrooms, the pathway, or even the grass. Try being more imaginative such as adding splash drops on the pathway or possibly tiny puddles forming. Keep in mind that you don't have to rush your art - usually, the longer you put time into your boart, the better it turns out.

The background in the distance is a nice touch. I like how you didn't give detail into that because it makes the background look foggy. ^^

With the creature, you're doing a nice job on anatomy, it's just you're getting angles mixed up. The chest is going in a side view angle while the rest of him is going more over view. You can actually see parts of the other side of the body. If you fix that up a little, it should be fine - mixing angles is good, but the way you have it makes the chest look massive and the waist puny and unhealthy. So just work on angles and that should be fine.

Thankyou.
I'd have to say that those lovely summer rains and those powerful, violent summer storms are both tied for my affection.<3

It all looks so soft ^^ I munna pet the bunny...bunny thing... bunny dog, rat... A runog!

Anywho, I do love the glowing spots on the shrooms, adds that cherry light to the dreary scene that certainly does make anyone's metal heart soften up and lose themself in a memory that happened on one of those peaceful days. Very oving and touching, I do love the background as well. Have a bad habit of half-assing the backgrounds as well. I think I'll try your method. Might work for me as well as it does you.

Woosh! It sure looks great. As with many of your drawings: It really has a strong atmosphere to it. For one moment I almost thought I could smell the rain. O, such a lovely smell, especially in forests <3. I love the detailed drops of rain on the edge of the large mushrooms. I also think the lighter area of the forest (somewhere in the middle) is a really nice add. do you know what I mean? xD The creature is really cute too, reminds me of a doodle I did awhile back at school. Those large ears and long tail. O, and I agree with =Ribbontail about the muzzle, but it's no big deal.

Magnificent!

The cheerful, fantastical feel to this piece reminds me of the storybook style ~Philipstraub once did. And on the same level it looks very professional, like a fine-tuned matte painting. Your lighting effects and details are very natural, your details are great, and the atmosphere is very tranquil. It's quite an enjoyable painting, I'll give you that.

My only critique is that the underside of the little critter's muzzle doesn't blend perfectly with the background. Perhaps if you were to add a tiny bit more fur details there it would mix better. I noticed this only after downloading it, though, so don't worry at all about it. Haha!

I was wondering if there was any meaning behind the little carving on the mushroom. Is it a signature of some sort, or just an inscription you felt like adding? Turned out lovely!

Ah... grand work on the painting... it's a great way to kick off that warm weather feel. Woohoo! -claps-

My absolute favorite piece by him is Political Bondage . I saw only a small cropped piece of that image awhile back and have marveled at it since. There's something so strong about that piece. I love it deeply.

Ah, not really any meaning behind the inscription, it just needed something. But the inspiration was sparked by something. Actually, I can't remember it exactly, but on that kids movie, A Bug's Life by Pixar I believe. I haven't seen that movie for years but I remember some part with glowing blue designs (or was it just an object?) in one of the tunnels. Actually, I can't really remember at all what it was but something inside of me pulls in that direction.
But the inscription I made on the stem was just a few flicks of my wrist, nothing much.

Thank you Ribbons.

That is indeed one of his finer ones; I'd think that particular work should've won a DD by now. I believe it won an award on cgtalk.com. Straub's still is really very lovely.

Thanks for answering my question, too. Some artists I watch fit hidden messages into their art, so I was just curious... x3
