I'm not into characters like Diego, but he looks so amazing. The background is wonderfull. And, as you said, Diego looks scary but looks intelligent and calm. You did a great job!

Hmm, that's a very good idea! I'll have to give that one a try! Deer are SO graceful and elegant, I think they're starting to get popular now due to some really talented artists portraying them. So hopefully they'll get the fame they deserve! We have a ton of deer around my house, I just love seeing them!

Mmm, OK I'm ready. 8D
Hmmhmm!
A very lovely piece indeed. A very nice atmosphere of the 'calm before the storm' or something of the sort.
I simply love what you've done with the clouds and mountains.
It's very sketchy and chaotic in a peaceful way.
The mountains are very nicely done, with the highlights and snow on the peaks.
The trees on the left are gorgeous-the lighting is clean and crisp.
But the trees on the right are messy-the lighting on those trees are a bit off and kinda dangle off the tree.
Daigo is such a dear creature. <3
His glows are still there, but it's kinda dimmed down due to the excess light from the rising sun.
Overall, it's a very lovely piece.

It's a little bizarre, yet it appears natural. The scenery is really well done, you've captured the sky nicely.
I especially like how the deer is just there and his markings are glowing. It's almost as if he's waiting or looking for something near the horizon.

Oooh, playing in the snow? Sounds like fun.
If winter wasn't so goddamn cold I would enjoy it.
Thanks.<3

makes me want to roam freely until the parents wonder where you are. its so weird how things can shatter so easily.

We usually roam free anyways. Its always been a game of ours, playing around in the dark. We've been doing it for as long as I can remember. Thats why I have absolutely no fear of it. Its comforting.

theres no fear in it ever. except when theres a mountain lion running around fields and killing cattle and stuff. but otherwise, i would be nocturnal.

Uh, yeah. That might creep me out a bit. Mind you, we run around in the blackened forests where bears live.

Ah man.
That background is breath-taking. Especially the sky. The colors are marvelous, and the calm, cotton-candy clouds are just beautiful~
Daigo looks very nice too. You've got him at a tough angle, and I must say that you pulled it off very well. c: His glowy markings look especially good here, for some reason.
Hah, that pine tree directly behind him looks so furrrrry |D

Okay! After much toiling with this piece, I quite honestly couldnβt come up with any good critiques. Rather, I could come up with only ONE critique, and it was a small one. D:
Before anything, I must say that itβs an absolutely lovely piece. The lighting is what makes it as attractive as it is. The serene glow of the sunset on the mountains and trees, along with the delicate clouds in the sky, really make the piece beautiful. I commend you greatly on executing the lighting so well. Your colors are very nice, too: the background contracts well against Daigoβs blue highlights.
My single tiny critique would be to add a highlight or two on the pine branches that are hiding Daigoβs hindquarters. I had to take the piece into Photoshop and redo the lighting/colors to actually SEE the branch. As it is, it looks as though you simply airbrushed over it with a dark greenβ¦ a highlight on those particular branch would complete that corner of the piece.
It is very lovely, though. The whole picture has the serene, calm, and outdoorsy look to it- you can capture the natural world so well.
(I might just be my usual forgetful self, but did you ever get a reference up for Daigo? Itβd be fun to read about this character!)

Well, thanks Ribbons. Kind comment.<3
Maybe its just my monitor. I think its set to be lighter so I can see the branch, but yes, I definitely see how a highlight would help. Actually, I'm going to go back and change it. *wanders off*

There. I've edited it. Is it better now?
Umm...and that is me being my procrastinating self. I've been meaning to make him a ref sheet for awhile now, but I'm still changing things about him. I'm thinking about giving him two forms: a solid form (normal deer, dark coloured, glowing blue markings) and his shadowy demon form (what he is now). But the more I think about it, the more I think I should just leave him in his demonic form. :/

I think the painterly style is part of the style that defines your work. I can tell the piece is yours just from that alone ^_^
And i really love the concept behind this, too. He looks out of place with the glowing colors, yet right at home because of his deer/stag form. its fitting with the 'different' notion that daigo is not 'just some devilish beast', as you put xD
very well done ^_^
