Description Not a whole lot of inspiration for the title, the file was named Cosmos but I couldn't leave it as that. Not grand enough.

I have a huge fascination with astronomy and I haven't drawn many pictures containing anything of the likes, so I figured it was time for me to do so. I've been playing with this image for a few days now, the sketch, and coloured it in two days.

The red planets, and especially the sun, are extremely bright and distracting but there was no way I could avoid that. Its the freakin' sun people!

This little (big) dragon guy god dude isn't solid or even a true being. Look at his horns and eyes and you'll see he's made of stars. (Lame, lame, lame)

Ohman, we give off a light. X]

Hah, I'm so biased. I put Canada/North America in full view.

Hands, which may be completely off, were done WITHOUT a ref, so please give me some slack. Do you know how hard it is to look at your own hands at that angle without using a camera or a mirror?
Same with the neck. But I don't even have a neck like that so...

Once again, download for massively full view. (1300x1700!!!)

Oooo.... now this picture is nice. Even if you think the idea is dumb, you executed it very well here.

So... I'm a little lost. You want me to still crit this, right? Or do you want just positive critique?

Thanks Shanree.<3
Any kind of critique would be fine, as long as it can help me in the long run.

Alrighty then. ^^ Let's see what I can do.

The concept behind this picture is spectacular. My favorite part would have to be the horns made from the stars - it looks very magestic. You did the same thing with the eyes, though there's a little disproportion on them and I'm not entirely sure if that was on purpose. His left eye is very smooth and the glow looks to be seeping out slowly. The other eye has a very violent glow and looks as if he's absorbing power into it. If that's the case, than cool! If not, I would pick one of the designs on the eyes and execute it onto the other.

Nostrils are a little uneven. His left is smaller, stiffer, and a little higher up. Judging from your creature, I would bring it down more to the front of the face and try to make it look fairly closer to his right nostril.

You did an awesome job with the revolving planets and the sun. You did a really good job of not putting too many or too little planets in and it looks very level. My favorite part of this would have to be the fact that the planets and sun above his head are surrounded by flame, but the earth and the moon he's holding in his hands are glowing in a cool, misty sort of atmosphere. It's just a really cool concept.

Webbed hands are good. I'm not too sure how you wanted to use the webbed hands in this picture, so I can't really crit on them.

The shading and lighting in the picture are fa nominal. Wonderful job, Kodriak! You've really nailed it this time.

Yes, Ribbons picked up on the different eyes as well. If I have any spare time soon I'll make a note to fix that up.

Thanks Shanree.
Means a lot.

Yup, no problem. And... sorry it took me so long to criticize this. I know it must get frustrating to wait for me to help you improve. So thanks for being patient with me.

Wow! Now, this is what I mean an epic piece. You asked that a little while ago, so.. The transitions between the stars and the dragon are great (I especially like the eyes and the hands) The horns sort off fade away, which gives a nice effect. And you may find the other planets distraction, I think they strengthen the composition. I don't know what it is, but the earth you drew just has a really strong atmosphere. As if you take a deep, fresh breath from cold air, all your sentences awake, that's the way it looks. And the dragon seems to cherish it like a child, tender but also attentively. Wonderful job.

Hah, if its anything like the atmosphere we have where I live in the middle of winter that one breath will freeze your innards.
Thankyou.

This is cool. It reminds me of my "Guardian" dragon - [link]
Ha. But still this is cool. I like the idea of him being a celestial being - makes him a heavenly character if you will.

It's not really a crit, but more of a suggestion. The wings - if you were to place the skin, the wing membranes on them, like coming from his back, you could have swirls of light - think of either the Aurora Borealis (sp?) or what looks like a galaxy. Like the Milky Way. It's hard to describe but it would probably look neat.

I love the sun.

And the hands came out fine.

Your Guardian is awesome. I always look at him first then I look at the little island cave thinger and realize how massive he is. And you've got a wickedly cool cosmic scene in the background.<3

Ah man, I wish I thought of that for the wings! That would have been awesome to make some sort of Aurora Borealis or milky way for the membrane.

What an astral beauty! Ooh.... ;_;

I really like this one. It's an absolutely wonderful piece... it just emanates light, details, and color. But what makes the picture so phenominal is the balance, both with color and composition. The blue Earth and dragon is complimented nicely by the sun and smaller planets at the top. You're obviously talented with the color theory, I'll give you that!

My only critique would be to make the "eye stars" a little less linear. It's easier to see on his right (our left) eye, but the stars align perfectly as they come flowing from his eyes. It just seems a lot more "fixed" then the rest of the stars, which are scattered and rather relaxed-looking. Haha. It's... sort of hard to explain. xD

Great job on this one, though. You have my props for the brilliant work!
