this looks like a really amazing effect, I tried following the volume_scatter.zip link but it was broken :\
Looks excellent really, I haven't looked into anything 2D ray tracers before

hey man, what kind of software is this exactly, its just that the site is entirely gone and I'm not sure at all what kind of search terms I'd need to put into google to find at least a program which is simmilar. I was thinking, there must be a more well known software which works just with 2D ray tracing and fiddling about with 2D forms and generative drawing etc..

Ah alright, its a really interesting idea for a program, the effects are great..
I guess stuff like processing/pure data/open frameworks would be sufficient alternatives.
Thanks!

..quadratikick my ass math hurts so bad..
Ceci est extrème, mon ami!
Reminds me of light bodies we see when our eyes are more receptive to electromagnetics, via tryptomenes and mageic mushrooms.

Beautiful and subtle effects. The grain has a nice soft quality. Great work.

So I assume its a random gradient then...

the lights emit (predominantly) red, green and blue light as defined in the .scn file; you can change their colour, size and position if you like but "camera" control is fixed :/
so there's no pre-canned gradients going on, that's neato light transport, of the statistically unbiased (as accurate as it gets) variety. this contrasts strongly with biased methods like photon mapping, which only assuredly converges to the correct solution in the limit, after an infinite number of phtons have been shot+stored: [link]
