The animals are too hard on Shere Khan. I mean the guy is crippled, he just has to take what he can get, even if thats cattle.

Khan: Chill out lady, all I wanted was to know if my buddy Hobbes(Tiger from Calvin and Hobbes) had passed this way.
Awesome artwork. Keep up the good work.

Sometimes, i can't help but wonder if there's more truth to these feral child legends than meets the eye.

I've had this experience in my roleplays!! xDD
Only it was a lioness and my poor redfox. @.@
btw- I bearly got luck and lived that after continously kicking dirt in it's eyes and nipping where I could. ;-; And like.. hurling myself in the back.. *sniff*

This patr of the story, although directly at the begining always seemed to stick with me. It was more Raksha and Akela the old one who really had a part to play in the story.. disney messed up with quite a few things but his adaption still has its place in my heart i think. Thout i wish the 'initial' one had truely been done instead of the one we have now.

Its a good, drammatic picture from a scene criminally overlooked in most adaptations. But I must ask, why did you portray the wolves as pretty much North American timber wolves? They do not look anything like the wolves of India.

Mostly because then I would have gotten overly-picky comments about people about why the wolves looked like gangly dogs. Ah, an artist's life!

Wow, someone who appreciates the kick-ass book instead of the sucky disney movie. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, but that movie was fail. -.- Rudyard Kipling, however, rules, as does Raksha... and this drawing!!! iI love this pleasantly rough style.

This picture is brilliant, I -love- that scene simply because of mother wolf's bad assness ^^
Interestingly, one of the more true to the original but still unique versions is a anime, which puts quite a lot emphasis on the wolf pack politics and life on the jungle (it's a series, so it works).

These are amazing - the animals' faces are so expressive, without seeming to lose any of the realism (I'd love to know how you pulled that one off). The shading and highlights add so much life to the picture, and the texture fits it perfectly. I love the way the rough-looking pen lines give it a sense of urgency and movement.
Also, the excerpts you've posted from the book have made me want to track it down.

This is beautifully depicted...I love the thwarted expression on Shere Khan's face, and the wolves' angry territorial expressions. It really captures the epitome of the scene, and draws you in...very well done indeed! Nice colours and style too!
