Description For Inktober 2023, I'm doing a month of mythologically originating monster people that aren't just some variation of elf or dwarf.

Second, the Kobold, Goblin, or Knocker.

These are just dwarves. Or house sprites, sometimes. Basically, there is no difference between these and goblins, which is why they are often used interchangeably with one another. Even the coastal Wizards thought: "Yeah, let's make 'em dragons" to spice them up. Odd choice, and I certainly will not make myself into a hypocrite later after saying that.

Being that they are so generic, one has to dig to find li'l nuggets in specific representations that give them some pop. Face of a skull, hands of a toad, a wide mouth, a burning light emanating from the chest; each from different tales about the Kobold, specifically. For me, I puree these together and turn the doldrums "old miner midget" into a smoothie of froggish-folk with luminescent spots. Also, why not a hint of the famed Hopkinsville Goblin alien encounters for good measure, mostly being the body shape (long arms, short legs, flat head). Still a goblin, thus still a viable source for inspiration.
Depending on how far amphibian, the "hair" can be a fine, gill-like filament or big, gooey skin folds. Gross.

Pen and ink (Higgins, waterproof drawing ink, black india).
