Description
One might be familiar with the typical Irish folktales of Leprechauns and Selkies, but have you heard of the Banshee? Banshees are spirits of evil elven women, who appear ancient and withered in reflection of their badly led lives. A Banshee glows brightly at night, but appears as a weak, luminescent form during the daytime. She is clothed in a tattered rag of a dress, which trails behind her as an extension of her emotions. She dwells in deep, mould-ridden caves or castle ruins, only to reveal herself at night to seek out the living.

The banshee is very methodical about her hunting, stalking intelligent creatures one by one, and torturing them with her horrific wail. Her wails carry for miles, and can inspire fear even at the outer reaches of its range. It can have a long term effect on any plants in the area, killing smaller plants, and causing larger ones to become twisted and diseased. The plant life and general life in the area is usually a tell tail sign that a banshee has a lair in the area.

This is an art-trade with my dear artist-friend ~GreatWhitey . I really procrastinated with this one - starting it in August and finishing it only last week. Sorry it took so long, but I enjoyed every minute that I worked on it. The theme she asked me to explore was in relation to bullying, causing me to dig a little deeper than usual. I can tell you guys that this is a very personal piece, and you can probably see how the whole Banshee concept goes with it.
