The night air was calm, the sound of the desert undisturbed save for the shriek of a Night Hawk or chirping of a cricket.

Mimi was cautiously making her way through the dunes, treading lightly as to not disturb any slumbering occupants. She had found her prize, a rare jade blossom to help cure Deirdre's fever. It was in the very moment of internal jubilation she sensed something soft underfoot and jumped back by reflex. Out of the sand burst forth a baby Sand Kraken, she counted herself lucky it was not a fully grown one, in their infant stage their carapace hasn't grown yet and they have a soft feel, just like a plush cactus.

She should have known it wasn't going to be easy, the red moon was bad enough of an omen, but her friend needed help, and Mimi was the best tracker in the Mid-Eastern territory.
The beast clumsily tried to grapple her, inexperienced yet in how to properly hunt and kill. She felt badly for having to injure an animal, however she was not about to become anyone's dinner anytime soon.
Taking her twin daggers out just as a precaution she navigated her tail right in the creatures forehead and jabbed into it. The paralyzing toxin would render it immobile for long enough for her to make a quick and safe getaway.
