Wow, what an extraordinary way to visualize that the kois are above or under water! Lovely.

I am a huge fan of water colour. I really like this painting. At first sight, it looks simple. It draws your attention and the more you look at it, the more you see.
Great job. I'm getting a koi tattoo soon.

Wow, this is really fantastic, is it really that dark though, or is it that the result of the scan/digital camera?

You're absolutely correct. I thought it was watercolor at first. It is a nice use of acrylics. Nice deep coloring on the back of the large koi. I have a friend who raises them.

it has a few different meanings...but I think the koi you are refering to is not the word love but more of a romantic kind, the word is more narrowed. It's something you might call your bf or gf....I guess it's like calling some one 'darling' or 'lover'. I would of used Ai for the word love.
but I wonder why they use the word for carp, for the same as calling someone your lover... >.>....could be similar to us useing"pumpkin" maybe.

yes I can see that thank u.. thats why Kanji Ai and Koi are diferent, but aint a gf or bf is Koibito?
but what do u mean Crap? do you mean "kisama"?

some times, I use them in different layers. I like them cause I can make it as thick or as thin as I like, unlike water color

crazy. i never liked acrylics because they get sticky and chunky, and ive always had access to colored calligraphy inks if i needed something thicker. this makes me want to try acrylics again.

*laughs* well I liked them 'cause it gave the painting more texture...they are just a media that needs to be played around and experminted with. I also like them becasue they are water base, you can practically use anything else with them with the exception of oils lol...water/oil does not mix well.

the colors was not originaly that strong in the first place, and there was no original color of the paper. I gave the whole thing a grey wash before hand there was no white to work with. Trust me, this was as close to the original as I could get it. I'm fully aware of how to use photoshop. I could most certainly inhance it for here, but than it would become an digital/traditional image.

ya....alot of my traditional stuff is a huge contrast to my digital works x_x. where as in digital I work mostly in monotone, my tradtional is all colors oppisite on the color wheel...mostly orange and blue.

Wow, I like it, good thing you mentionned it's not watercolors, because i could have been fooled.
I love touches of colors, they really add something, yet are not too agressive.
Amazing composition.
Sis you use the ink as is or added water?
Sorry, just curious.
Anyway, amazing work.
