LOL and why Ami and Yumi are there with Yugi? maybe for the episode when they made a parody of YuGiOh? XDDD

I didn't know there was an episode where they did that. I just thought this was pretty funny to draw, and at the time I'd been meaning to draw Puffi Ami Yumi anyway so this seemed like a good excuse.

Oh man, I nearly didnt recognise them. I love how you worked Ami and Yumi into it Man, that show sucks. I love how you made them and Yugi look, though. Very funny too!

Yeah, that show does suck. I keep trying to watch it from time to time, thinking that I should like it, but every time I find out that I don't. I guess it's written by guys who are more concerned about interesting art design than in producing a genuinely entertaining product. That seems to be happening a lot lately. Juniper Lee is pretty annoying too in my opinion. Atomic Betty, aside from being nicely animated, is about as mediocre a story as I've ever seen. I'm not liking this direction. I'd sooner watch a show that looks like crap but is well written (Rocky/Bullwinkle, Home Movies, etc.) than a slickly produced snore fest. I'm glad you like the drawing, as spur-of-the-moment as it was. Sometimes stupid yet funny ideas have to be pounced on or they're lost forever.

Yeah, fanart doesn't have to be for show you actually like. This anime style coloring turned out pretty well. I'm borrowing some of my friend's Newtype magazines to try and pick up some more techniques for doing it better, which means I'll probably be drawing more big-boobed space chicks getting hugged by kindergarten girls or something. I'm very impressionable.

I've never seen Yugi/Yami under this light! You never fail to shock and amaze ^_^

I like being cruel with other people's characters. I at least like Yugi as a character, although I watch the show once in a blue moon. I positively dislike Puffy Ami Yumi as a cartoon and as a band. The character designs are cute and fun, but that's the extent of my respect for the whole franchise, so I had no qualms about making them Yugi's bitches. However, I am glad I drew them, at least the pink/yellow one, she's probably the most successful anime-style character I've ever done. The other one, eh, so-so.
At first I was planning to throw Dark Magician Girl and that schoolgirl he's always with in the picture, but I ran out of room. Too bad too, they would've been fun to draw. Oh well, there's always next time.

lol, you could use the dark magician instead Yugi calls on him a lot

mallaard In reply to indiochink [2005-05-06 02:51:46 +0000 UTC]

I suppose he could make for a good bodyguard figure to put in the back, lording over all the wanna-bes, playa-hatas, and people asking for handouts. I'd laugh pretty hard if I saw Dark Magician curb-stomping some guy while Yugi pimped around with various anime girls. This all seems pheasible, if only the guys who make Harvey Birdman were to use anime characters as well as old Hanna Barbara ones.

Oh my, I don't really keep up with the latest yughio trends but its very.....j-pop. especially with the shiney pants and the efemenent contraposto stance thing he's got going on there. ultra skinny, random lock of hair blocking view. j-pop. I haven't said that in a long time. Takeshi even. hehee. so he either doesn't like those women there in the first place or in the spirit of a japanses rock star he's dressing like a women to get them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mallaard In reply to JetLeigh [2005-05-04 02:00:14 +0000 UTC]

Yugi always practices effeminate contrapasto. That's very big in anime right now. The costume is taken directly from a fairly up-to-date picture from the show. None of the character designs here are altered at all, just drawn a little differently. My figuring was that the old spirit who possesses Yugi is an Egyptian pharoah, so he's used to pimping over harems. He doesn't need to impress anybody, he just acts indifferent and the girls cling to him. Yugi don't love those ho's.

mallaard In reply to SirGrunt [2005-05-03 02:19:49 +0000 UTC]

Not really, it sorta transforms him from a weird little kid with huge spiky hair, into a deep-voiced, slightly taller kid with even spikier hair. Although I'm certain it'd be excellent for toilet use or as a sundial.

mallaard In reply to geekysideburns [2005-05-03 02:23:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, he's surely that...I mean, all he does is pose, inform people of their certain defeat, and have schoolgirls follow him around all day long. If I could have one special power, it would be to transform into a slightly taller, spikier-haired version of myself, get a super deep voice, and be able to say really intimidating stuff to people who threaten or annoy me. I wouldn't even need physical powers, just that would suffice. And don't be fooled, I really don't like Puffy Ami Yumi, they just make nice hangers-on, or roadies, or bitches, depending on how you see it.
