Description
It took several friends many years, but I was finally convinced to watch My Little Pony, and I have to say... not as bad as expected. In fact, it was good enough for me to come up with a crossover. However, it is not the main characters that I enjoyed, so much as the villains and 'ancient legends' in the series, and it is those that I work with here.
The picture is another excellent commission from MariaAart , and the associated idea is below.

Nerima Ponies: Living Legends (My Little Pony/Ranma 1/2)
Struck by magic, Ranma was banished from Nerima... and Ryoga was caught by the spell, as well. Waking up in a strange world, the pair find themselves transformed into 'ponies'; talking, horse-like beings, possessed of strange magic.
However, after fighting over who's fault it is that they were there, the pair quickly became separated, in a land overcome by an unending blizzard. Ryoga was rescued by ponies that look like his new form, a tribe of farmers that call themselves Earth Ponies. Ranma (who's form was similar, but had wings) was saved by the militant Pegasus Tribe. While separated, they both quickly learned something of the world they found themselves in; that the land was shared by three tribes that now were in conflict, blaming each other for the unnatural storm that was freezing their land.
Grateful for the help, both agreed to help the leader of the tribe that rescued them to find a new home for their tribe, one free of snow. They found a paradise full of warm weather, fertile soil, and even brimming with beautiful gemstones. However, they also ran into each other, along with the leader of the third tribe, the magically gifted Unicorns, and her assistant, an apprentice wizard named Clover the Clever. With each tribe claiming the land for their own, the three leaders soon began quarreling once more.
No sooner had they started, however, but snow started falling on the previously sunny land. Clover the Clever quickly realized that the weather truly was unnatural, being the work of monsters called Wendigos. Although she pointed this out to Ranma and Ryoga, the knowledge did not come in time to save the tribes' leaders from being frozen solid. Pooling their energy, the remaining trio were able to defeat the Wendigos, saving the tribe's leaders, and showing that together, they could overcome what they could not alone.
The three were celebrated as heroes in the new land that was formed, a kingdom called Equestria, in which all three tribes lived in Harmony, for a time. Although Ranma and Ryoga came to accept their new life, the chaos of their old life seemed to have followed them... and taken on a tangible form.
Chaos and Disharmony flooded across Equestria, with the arrival of a strange being called Discord. Ranma and Ryoga quickly traveled to confront the being, but found themselves with an unexpected pair of tag-a-longs; the daughters of their friend Clover, a pair of young fillies they called 'Tia and Lulu. While they intended to take the young pair back to their parents, they instead ran into Discord sooner than expected, and made a startling discovery; that he was partially responsible for bringing them to that world, as the magic of their curses was attracted to him... due to him having been the being that created Jusenkyo!
The pair of transformed martial artists tried to fight him, but Discord's power was beyond the ability to oppose with martial means. Claiming that his 'current interest was in Equestria', and that he would deal Humans next time he was on Earth, Discord merely waved his hand.
...and Ranma and Ryoga found themselves in Nerima once more, returned to their human forms.
But despite returning home, the pair could not be happy. They had come to truly care for the friends they had made in Equestria, and neither was willing to let themselves be defeated by the chaotic (and ridiculous) Discord. Discovering that it was Gosunkugi that had cast the spell that had banished them, they 'convinced' him to cast the spell again, something that he was all too willing to do, to get Ranma out of Nerima again.
However, time flowed differently in the two worlds. While it had only been a couple days for them, for Equestria they had been gone for decades. Discord had already been defeated, sealed in stone by none other than the two young girls that had been with them, and who were now honored as the rulers of Equestria; Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
That was not the only thing that had changed about the pair, though. Gone was the pair of adorable foals. In there place was a vain and arrogant Princess of the Sun, and a bitter and jealous Princess of the Moon. To top it all off, before they could decide what to do, events came to a head.
The younger Princess became consumed by her darker emotions, claimed the name Nightmare Moon, attacked her sister, and attempted to cast the land into eternal night. Leaping into action, Ranma and Ryoga joined forces with Celestia to stop the insane princess, but with her making no effort to hold back their power, she overcame them. Although Celestia may have been able to match her sister's power normally, her guilt over the knowledge that she had driven Luna to this kept her from bringing her full power to bear.
Celestia knew there was only one solution, and got Ranma and Ryoga to keep Nightmare Moon busy, while she sought the Elements of Harmony; the relics she and Luna used to defeat Discord. With their power she was able to seal Nightmare Moon into the moon indefinitely. However, Ranma and Ryoga were caught by the spell as well, determined to pin Nightmare Moon down to the very end, in order to ensure peace in the land they had come to call home. Thus, came an abrupt and heroic end to their tale...
Until 1,000 years later, when Nightmare Moon broke free of her seal, and the pair of rivals woke up in the ruins of the royal sisters' castle...
