Description
Though a small and light vessel, the Homados is by no means helpless in the void. On the contrary, for as fragile as it may seem, it is a ship of extraordinary resilience, capable of weathering storms that would tear apart heavier and stronger craft. Tonnage is a two-edged sword for vessels of the void, for every added ounce of adds makes the hull more susceptible to the forces acting in interplanetary, let alone interstellar, space. Like a small boat may ride up and down the hills and valleys of towering waves, yet a large freighter may be broken by their force, so too can a small ship like the Homados ride with the careening energies of the cosmos far easier than a large behemoth would.
Such resilience makes Homados-class vessels excellent vanguard ships, couriers, and scouting vessels – albeit restricted to sub-light ranges. Large swarms of them serve around habitats and lighter worlds, there they accompany the cutters and barges of local garrison fleets. In heavy tides, when the cosmos overflows with bursts of light and radiation, and untold exotic forces break through space like cresting waves, then the smallest craft of this and similar kinds are the sole messengers and defenders to wether the storm.
