Amad Tir, the imperial realm, benefits much from interstellar trade. Along the main axis of its constellation, guilds of the Crown control the majority of trading ports, system gateways, and way stations. All goods travelling along the major routes are taxed and observed by the realm’s leading worlds, feeding their growing might and populace.

But it is difficult to expand such a web established over centuries. The old routes flourish because they always have, and the old trade continues no matter the name or monarch of the crown. To direct all this potential, to increase the benefits reaped, has proven a nigh impossible challenge for governors and rulers across the imperial realm. Trading companies and merchant fleets were established, huge investments in imperial silver. But in the vastness of an interstellar realm, it will take decades more at a minimum, for such changes to affect a noticeable difference.
