The MOB-43 class Intraplanetary Main Operating Base is a military space station operated by the Stargate Command (SGC). It serves as a command- and supply-post for spaceborne forces, as well as a test-bed facility for new technologies.

The station consists of two main hulls, both of which are modular and were refitted multiple times. Its spire section houses command, comms, life support, and the main reactor. The primary docking arms are also found here. The secondary section includes cargo-holds, supplies and engineering equipment. To fend-off rapid enemy incursions, the MOB-43 class is equipped with various defensive measures and two twin-rail gun turreted batteries.

Measuring over three-hundred meters in height, the first MOB-43 station "Arco" was by far the largest space station ever constructed by the Tau'ri at the time of its completion, though it would be surpassed soon-after by the first lunar assembly station L-AFDB-1 "Artisan".

Plans for a spaceborne installation were drafted by the SGC as early as 2000, aiming to utilize newly acquired technologies to establish a permanent spaceborne presence in near-earth space. These early plans were delayed, however, in favor of project X-303 "Prometheus".

Only with the expansion of the Tau'ri fleet and the main-line production of BC-304 class vessels, was the MOB-43 realized. Maintaining a standing fleet of such considerable size made the establishment of a functioning orbital infrastructure a necessity. For the very same reason, the MOB-43 quickly became obsolete in the Sol-System, as the fleet rapidly outgrew the accommodations the station could provide.

However, the class sees continued use elsewhere in the galaxy, as the Tau'ri begin establishing permanent outposts in other systems, particularly those of strategic interest where no direct stargate connection is readily available. In such systems, the MOB-43 serves as a permanent base of operations and anchorage for Tau'ri and allied vessels.
