Description

So this is Maua, one of my very early TLK fan characters. She's my version of one of Scar and Sarabi's cubs.

Name: Maua
Meaning: Flower
Gender: Female | Lioness
Age: 7 years
Status: Queen of the Northland Plains Pride
Height: 3.2 @ shoulder
Orientation: Heterosexual
Likes: Sunbathing, fresh water, her cubs, Huruma, grooming, hunting
Dislikes: the Pridelands, her father, being scared, hyenas
Personality: Kind, generous, intelligent, strategic, good judge of character, calm, motherly, helpful, observant
History: During Scar's reign over the Pridelands, he took Sarabi as a mate for a time to try and bear him some sons. Instead, however, she bore him a daughter whom she named Maua. After realizing she was not a male and not eligible in his eyes to inherit the throne, Maua was ignored, like the other female cubs that would come after her. Even with a loving mother and pride-sisters to take care of her, life was harsh growing up under Scar's rule. The hyena's were a constant threat and the lionesses were always on guard. They hardly had a moment of peace, and when they did, it was often disrupted by Scar or his lackeys. Maua was taught to always be on alert and to always behave, or it could mean harsh punishment and possibly death. Because of this, she was always terrified and very paranoid. However, she always found solace when she was with her mother. Sarabi always knew how to keep the peace among the lionesses and she always had games for Maua and her siblings to play, when they were given the chance.
After Scar was overthrown by Simba, Maua was nearly a mature adult. Even though peace was restored to the Pridelands, Maua found it hard to rid her mind of Scar. She was often awoken by nightmares of the terrible things he had done. She couldn't cope with living in the Pridelands, knowing what had happened there. At every turn, something was there to remind her of the dark days that plagued her past. And as she came of age, she decided to set out and find a different pride. Sarabi as well as Simba and Nala were sorry to see her leave, but hoping she would find peace in her mind with this decision.
Maua traveled for several weeks, and saw hide nor hair of other lions. Until one night when she was approached by a rogue. He was dark with a very light mane, but he was not alone. A light female cub clung tightly to his hind leg. He explained that she was his daughter and her name was Adimu (meaning unique). He had just begun a pride, but the cubs mother had been killed by a pack of hyenas after just bringing down a wildebeest. She was so fatigued from fighting the wildebeest that she had no energy to protect herself from the hyenas. This enraged Maua, because she knew exactly how he felt. She had seen other lions torn to pieces by hyenas. She accepted the role as the cubs surrogate mother. However, she had no intentions of being this rogues mate, who she learned was named Huruma. A few months passed and they had found a proper home in the savannah to call their own. By that time, Maua and Huruma had grown quite fond of each other. He adored the way she took up mothering so well and she too admired his fatherly skills, to which she had never been given the chance to have with Scar. It took some courage, but not long after, the two were wed and could finally call themselves a proper family. They began making preparations for more cubs, and Adimu was thrilled. She'd been the only cub for so long, she was ecstatic when she heard that Maua was expecting her very first. Adimu fawned over Maua until the day she gave birth. It was a dark male, who they named Ochi. As they grew, Adimu and Ochi became very close friends and even after Ochi was told that Adimu was his half-sister they still played like nothing had ever changed.
As for Maua, she had finally eased out of her old mindset. She became a mother once again when she gave birth to fraternal twins, and took the responsibility of it to heart, as well as being Huruma's mate. She no longer had nightmares and would do her best to keep her mind off of her past.

Strengths: She's very observant, and can tell when someone is faking their smiles. If you're unhappy and you try and cover it up, she'll figure it out and confront you about it, and then try and help you.
Weaknesses: When confronted with things that remind her of her past, she tends to either clam up or become very hostile.
