So...this is my submission to the Beasts of 9 Creature Contest .The Jester
Modeled with Maya, textured/rendered with Maxwell Render, and some post work with Photoshop.
I spent nearly 20 hours spread out over a four day weekend to finish this one. And honestly, I don't think this is top 3 quality, but it was fun to give it a go nonetheless. I actually wanted to add more detail, especially to the environment, but ended up holding off so as not to distract from the character itself.
The name Jester is just something that popped into my head while watching this thing render. To me, it kinda looks like a gangly clown who would fool you into watching it juggle some (creepy) doll heads, and just as you let your guard down, it would snatch you up with its big rusty claw.

Very nice creature, I really like his face and how much he reminds me of General Grievous (sp?)

Btw, the terrain and background just seem bland compared to the model. I know that you want to make the model the center but to me it seems as if the background is actually lowering the quality of the model.
Maybe a darker background with the brighter model like the other dude said

great work, nice pose ... my only comment is: If you can do some contrast to spread the model from the background and make more focus on it ...
