Appearance: Fairly "average", so to say - can typically be seen in whatever's comfy and affordable. Usually has that hair of his tied up, as seen above, and only lets it out if he's late, feeling particularly lazy, or at ~home~. Doesn't have much preference in clothing other than the aforementioned comfy and affordable. Something thick and cozy in the winter, loose and not-stuffy in the summer. Normal.
Tends to avoid eye contact and can unconsciously start glaring/frowning at something. Don't mind it.

Personality: Kai can typically seem a bit harsh to others at first, which is mostly due to his tendency to not speak unless directly spoken to as well as his accidental scowls and pouts frowns. His brows can usually be seen knit together unless asleep or uninterested, for no other reason than it being a sort of default. (Confusion was his main state of being for a while, anyhow.) He's worked on fixing that, though, after he managed a small job at a cafe and the manager constantly told him to "fix his face". The habit is still there but because of that "fixing", his face is now extremely easy to read, as . . . Well. He isn't a master at keeping his facial expressions under control, to put it loosely.
Kai tends to not talk about really personal details, and when asked he will usually dodge all sorts of questions (clumsily or otherwise) until he feigns having to leave or stops talking altogether. It's not that the past "haunts" him or anything, though (and the occasional nightmare here and there can't be helped, okay?) - more like, he doesn't deem it necessary to talk about. He will, however, probably say something if you're deemed a good enough friend.

In short, he's just a slightly huffy baby.

History: Kai had originally been the (pet, until that special age of trainerhood) Pokemon of a young boy. His memories are somewhat repressed, and there isn't much memory of the trainer anymore, but the only details he has now are this: they had gone fairly far in their journey. Probably got the fourth gym badge or so, actually. It was going well. The next path, however, would be through a forest . . . One thing led to another, a battle ocurred, and . . . Kai had been one of the only ones (human or Pokemon) to make it out of the fire alive. As far as he could tell, though, no outsiders had been hurt - that's something, right? The fire only went far enough to hurt them before someone - undoubtedly with a water 'mon - put it out.

He was found in that same location some time (hours, perhaps) later by a local officer, and was unregistered and "released".

Wandering. Lots of wandering. That was essentially what happened next. For a bit, he stayed out of forests, but in the end, he decided the phobia was stupid and went ahead. Forests had berries and some fruit in certain places, after all, and now he'd have to provide for himself. He managed to wander quite far from the now closed forest, and one day, someone with a tail showed up. Curiosity piqued, Kai did his best to keep up with this mysterious human, sometimes losing them before catching sight again once more, and after a while, he ended up at the entrance of a very shiny cave.

More wandering. A few battles to deal with and a bit of people-avoiding and some not-fantastic navigating. More than one moment of some minor fear and anxiety, and just a handful of panic attacks, so to speak. He stumbled upon what he thought was some freakish and weird cult, before his attention was diverted to that odd human - the one that suddenly turned into a Pokemon right in front of him after touching some weird . . . thing.

Curiosity piqued again with more confusion and inner-freaking-out. Even more not-very-good navigating, and he really did his best to stay away from any others in this . . . conspiracy thing. It took him a bit, and he was fairly panicky by the time he did it, but Kai procured himself one of those strange technology things and hightailed it the hell out of there.

It took even more time and minor panic for him to get used to the idea of being a human, in a sense - wow, was he suddenly a lot taller than usual, everything looked way shorter now, this five-toe thing is super weird - and it was a while before he could bring himself to go into town. Initially, everything was awkward and confusing and mind-boggling, but . . . He likes to think he managed to settle well after a kind woman decided to hire him for a short while.

In a way, he finds being human easier than a Mawile - and in the end, he definitely found himself shifting less and less until finally, it became a bit abnormal for him not to stay in this human form. Nobody respects you as a Mawile, anyhow.

Relationships: N/A

Extras: Possesses a slight burn mark on his back for somewhat obvious reasons. Hidden under his clothes and, as a Pokemon, with his giant back-jaw.
Likes bitter food.
Somewhat dislikes his hair but is kind of afraid of what would happen if he tried to cut it. Would that change something when he's a Mawile again . . . ?
A weak spot for things pretty or shiny or something of the sort. He's pretty into flowers, actually, so maybe he can be a florist in the future. . . ?

The fact that she’s able to feel his hand - his abnormally cold, pale hand - makes her broken silent sobs hiccup to a pause, sniffing once before looking at the hand grabbing hers. Eyes move back to his face when feeling the cold on hers, blinking once dumbly at him and unable to do anything but just sort of stare in wonderment.
And then he began speaking.
And she began crying again.
It was sort of just her standing there, looking at him in sadness as tears began to swim in her blue eyes once more, hearing the apologies spill from his lips over and over and over again like a never-ending waterfall, and at first she didn’t really mind it. Then after a few moments, the apologies just sort of got irritating to her, because -
“Quit sayin’ that!” Hiccup.
"Sorry isn’t gonna do jack shit!” At least she’s not blubbering or something. “Just … quit pityin’ yourself for it!” A moment of silence. Then a split second later, she’s already hugging him, finding the cold to be … well, cold, but she can’t mind that at the moment. (Frankly, she’s glad to be able to hug him at all.) Her sobbing has now reduced to silent tears and little sniffs, just sort of snuggling her face into his somewhat fade-y shoulder.

"… stupid brother …" Sniff.
