the latest mermaid in my phase. she was inspired by a drawing made by heather pike of a half shark half woman - a lovely new take on the sometimes tired reiterations of fish + woman. i need to draw fins more, they're fun.Related content

This is, I have to say, my favourite mermaid pic of all I've seen...
I especially love her left hand... it's curled up so brilliantly - and her other hand reaching out to the viewer. The shading on her back and tail is fantastic, the detail on the recess in her back showing her strength.
Finally her face... she's a cheeky one, with her big eyes and lashes and a mysterious grin... dare we guess what she's thinking?
It's true, you need to draw more fins.
