This has been a real labour of love! It's taken 10 and a half hours to do, but it has been worth it and I enjoyed every second of it.
I drew this in honour of meeting Christopher Paolini tomorrow at a talk & book signing event. It's so rare that he tours the UK (I have never known him go anywhere but London, either) so I HAD to see him as he was coming somewhere fairly close to me. Of course, though, I wanted to draw something nice for him as a way of thanking him for inspiring my life so much; no one else has inspired me so much to write. Equally, I have never picked up another authors book and felt like that book was written just for me, and exactly the story I wanted to read. He is a wonderful author.
So, I drew his character Arya - known as Arya Svitkona, Arya Dröttningu, Arya Shadeslayer, etc . She is one of those characters who I see very clearly when I read the book, and this is how she appears to me. And so I had to depict her! The movie version looks nothing like how I see her and I wanted to show him who Arya is to me. I'm very happy with this. I think its about 70% there which is as close as I could get, given the short deadline (I only found out about the signing and got tickets last week) and also the fact that I do find it hard to pin down characters even when I see them very clearly in my minds eye. But, strangely, whenever I try to focus more clearly on their finer features, they elude me like smoke on the wind...
Anyway so... yes. Enjoy. I hope you like this as much as I do, I'm actually pretty proud of it.
Fingers crossed Mr Paolini likes it and accepts it! (Edit: Mr Paolini seemed to really like it and accepted it, yay!)Meg

Great drawing. The best fan rendition yet. But her hair is black and if the eyes were a little more slanted (cat like), she'd be perfect. Other than that, beautiful.

That is incredibly lovely! She's beautiful. That is way closer to what I picture her to look like as well. For me, it's a good likeness of her. I love it.

I did indeed! I also got a letter back from him in the post today with signed photo, signed sticker (so I can put that in my copy of Inheritance when I get it!), and loads of writing tips... I'm a bit surprised and overwhelmed! <3

So so pretty Miss. Imaeko. Look's like she just stepped out of Ellesmeria. The detail is wonderful and even the look and personality on her face reminds me of Arya. You got to meet Christopher Paolini? That's really neat. You mentioned that you are a writer, and i'm guessing fantasy? I also LOVE to write (fantasy)!

I know what you mean. You're writing a book? That's great! Are you going to get it published? What is it about? I try to write as much as I can. I used to about at least once a day. Now it's usually every other day, because I'm so busy. I often will write during lunch or even before one of my classes start

I am indeed and I do hope to get it published! But as it will be my first full book I don't think I'll be too gutted if it doesn't make it because I am really still learning. But I hope it will get to that stage!
I am trying to up my writing but I am struggling. With university and work there is not much time left. This week I am off uni so I am making an effort to write 5 times this week which will be good if I can pull it off! I just try to get down what I can when I can.. I'm up to 23,264 words so far... it's a start! Are you writing any particular story at the moment?
I know what you mean though! It's very hard to get down exactly the scene you see in your head!

Well, have you heard of NaNoWriMo? If not, its a website where you write a novel in november (I think its 100,000 words?) but i'm doing a junior submission (50,000 words) for it. I'm still not certain as to what i'm going to write about, but it will have something to do with Elves. Beside's that i've been writing some short stories and poems. I've had an idea for a novel for awhile, but its still developing in my head and i'm afraid to write it down and then get another idea for it. So i'm just letting that one stir for awhile until I feel its the right time.

Perhaps write down a basic brain storm / story plan type thing? I often find that helps in getting ideas down and organising them - some turn out to not be viable but it really does help make more sense of things rather than trying to juggle it all in my head.

Thanks. And yes, I know, this has been pointed out. But I don't see her in my head with black hair despite knowing she's supposed to have it, and as this is how I personally visualise her, it's right for me.
