Description
For , who requested that I paint the character Monks from "Oliver" as her prize for a contest I did over a year ago. I know, I'm slow sometimes.Anyway, she wanted him to be loosely based on the character from the 1999 movie, but asked that I not actually paint the actor. Hence the reason this is in Movies/TV instead of Books
(Also, from her character description, Monks has one brown eye and one blue. I didn't actually forget to paint that other eye
)I might upload the original sketch I did to my scraps. I really liked it, in some ways better than this.

Oliver Twist's often forgotten main antagonist (no idea why he's always forgotten). I've always liked him. Creepy mastermind behind Fagin, despite being relatively young, and also able to intimidate the... guy who owned the sweatshop was it? Wasn't the orphanage. Oh well, Monks was able to intimidate the easily forgettable, loud-mouthed jerk who was responsible for a good chunk of the misery in Oliver's life and was an allegory of Victorian Era working conditions (one of them; that book is quite strong on the satire).

Wow, I really wish I could paint. I love the detailed eyes! How're they're red on the lower lids, and really shadowy near the top! I love the way you made his hair frame his face - it gives him a more 1800's look. His expression appears haunted to me (a word I frequently use to describe my vampires), as if he has secrets that no one else will know.

The eye does look uncolored...I strangely didn't notice until after you wrote that part. As a color, it looks more gray than blue.
