Description I went back to that low bridge outside of Daegu Station and reworked the old 'Ebb & Flow' shot. This time I used a 30 second exposure, and also shrunk the aperture right down so there's a lot more detail in the distance. I also went for more street, less sky. Still debating whether that was a good idea or not.

Lens: EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5

EDIT: This piece has been featured by the talented . Check out the feature here ([link] ) - there's some truly stunning night photography there. Thanks very much, Katie!

Thanks a lot Ruben! I tried 15, 20, and 30 second shutter speeds with the maximum f/22 of the lens, and 30 seconds worked out best. Glad you liked it!

Cheers Nell! Sorry about the late reply, been totally caught up in the real work with the new semester and all. I think I'll be able to be back in the internet world on a regular basis nowadays, though. Glad you liked this one!

Yep, some definite improvements here - well done for giving it another go
Did you try this with a slightly smaller aperture? The star-lights are cool, but I'm wondering what the overall picture would look like if they were smaller. Another thing I'm wondering about - would it be possible to use a graduated filter of some kind - lighten the mid/background?
There's probably stacks of room for playing around with different stuff like this - I'd like to hear about the results of other settings for this pic, even if you don't post them.

cheers Forrest, great detailed and useful comment! Thanks very much for the English manual help, too! (For anyone wondering, I bought my camera over here in Korea and the manual was in Korean. Forrest helped me with working out how to manually set the shutter speed and the aperture at the same time for the one shot.)

Unfortunately f/22 is as small as my 10-22mm lens can go... I'll re-check, but I'm sure this is the case. I did take some sample shots with a shorter exposure time though - around 15 and 20 seconds I think. I'll go back over them and check them out, see if there was a lot of difference regarding the light sources.

Regarding the graduated filter idea - I reckon it's very possible. I only have one pink and and one orange/brown graduated filter at the moment, and I don't think they'd go well. Once I pick up a Neutral Density graduated filter I'll pop back there and give it a try, and let you know!

the only grudge i have with it is that the composition makes it seem tilted...unless it's just my brain that's weird

Thanks rancid, appreciate the comment. Yep, it's tilted at an angle, a bit like the old photo. I do have a shot that is level, but I thought this one seemed more 'active', or something like that.

THis is MUCH better than your other one. Better angle, better flares off the street lights, and good streaks of light coming from the cars.

thanks a lot, I thought it was a lot better as well. I only just figured out how to adjust the aperture in 'M' mode - the old photo was at a default f/5.6 or something. This one is much darker, but overall is an improvement. Cheers for the comment!

yeah...you did great...i love that star filter you added..it makes it unique mainly because people wouldnt normally use it for that keep posting

thanks a lot! Actually, I didn't use a star filter at all - that's just how it came out with the very small aperture and the long exposure. The only filter on the lens is a B+W brand 'UV - Haze' filter.

Thanks for the encouragement!
