Description Radial body plan

This is something I wanted to do for a long time. I really like creatures with radial body plan, unfortunately they are hard to find in my near region. So, I designed my own. The five vertical lines always show two different critters with the same type of radial body – circle, triangle, square, pentagon and hexagon.
This was not as easy as it seems, honestly, it was difficult. But it was fun to draw! I must admit, I don’t like the pentagon-creatures, they look to odd. No matter, the others I like very much!

a. Leuchtturm (lighthouse) – a wormlike thing with circle-body plan. It lives like an anglerfish, lurking for some prey, which is getting attracted by the light at the end of the Leuchtturm’s harpoon (but this worm lives on land, not deep sea). It has a strong muscular foot which is used for jumping from one place to another.

b. Wanderpyramide (wandering pyramide) – a really strange triangle-animal. It’s a little taller than a human and moves slowly along the surface of its world (or should I better say “along the surface of my imagination”?) The “pyramide” is a transparent construction of skin . . . don’t ask me for what the creature it uses. Think this one is my favorite, cause it looks more like a mathematic figure, than a biologic animal.

c. Vierflosser (four-fin) – This water-square-creature is really cool, cause it can move like a turbine underwater. Just imagine a dolphin with four body-sides, this is what comes out!

d. Schreckenshand (scary hand) – Stupid name, stupid design. First I thought: “Oh! Five edges – five fingers! Cool!” Now it think: it sucks!

e. Lustkreisel (lust circle) – Now, this one needs some more explanations. Its not a single animal, but a bunch of individuals from the same hexagon species. You see here: alien sex! I planned a compilation about alien sex, but the creatures looked like crap. This one was the only survivor.
You can see some different genders and organs there: the bigger hexagons at the left are one gender, they are infecting the smaller hexagons at the right, which are the second gender. When this gender is infected, it “grabs” the balloon like thing in the middle – this is a third gender! And now its getting complicated: At the top and at the bottom of the circle are always two genders, which fight with the other two genders. The ballon will be seeded by the two winner genders. Natural selection rules!

f. Himmelskeule (heaven’s cudgel) – a big fat cloud-filter-whatever-thing, sliding along the heaven. The strange thing at the end of the creature can be used for faster movements, it works like a propeller.

g. Das Omen (The Omen) – Oh, I really like this thing! This triangle creature feeds on sunlight and moves fast with the sun, so it never lives in the dark. The intelligent people of its world once thought this thing is a god and prayed to it. When I landed on the planet last week I just did the same thing.

h. Wunderbox (miracle box) – Beautiful creepy cave dweller. The legs and claws can be completely hidden inside the box, what is definitely a miracle. The box only opens its mouth, when prey comes along. Then the whole critter falls onto the mostly bigger prey and digs itself into the meat.

i. Saeulenbauer – (pillar builder) – the other pentagon creature that sucks! I can’t even say what this thing does, or what it is. The pillars look like mountains of poo-poo . . . my gosh . . .

j. Nagelmeister (nail master) – Nasty critter, looks like a starfish from hell just with one more side. The nails of course are made for slashing prey. After a successful hunt the tentacles enclose the prey and the digestion starts.

Oh, I’m really proud of this one, even if the pentagon creatures suck. Next time I show you a bunch of strange creatures living on the island called “New Thuringia”. So, keep on watching and please comment!

Actually I think scaryhand is my favorite of the, that and the nasty starfish. Wunderbox is really cool too, and I like the visual of the other square one swimming like a turbine.

Very fascinating, with much detail! Sort of reminds me of the kind of species lists I'd make, but these are so cool, and feel very beleivably realistic! They remind me of actual viruses and bacterium and plankton!
