This reminds me of Van Gogh's style, and it somehow speaks to me too, especially when in fullview

You honor me with your flattering comment, thank you! It does have some sort of a whole meaining to it, that I don't understand; it almost painted itself.

I like looking at this, the colours are very nicely chosen and put together, and the shapes are kind of funny in a way one doesn't see often. Reminds me of a certain type of vase, somehow. Great job!

Interesting, a vase you say? (*struggles to see it like that guy in "mallrats" who can't see the 3d image*) Hmmm (*changes subject in frustrated embarassment*) So, funny weather we've been having here in New Jersey... (*collects self*) Um, the shapes overlap and interlock, I do that a lot. It's supposed to create the effect of motion. Use it in a lot of pieces, with varying success. Got the idea from my Cognitive Psychology class in college. Optical illusions and whatnot. That's why I put in the 'Mallrats' reference above, lol. Um, something else... I dunno, thanks for the interesting comment!

Haha, that is interesting! here is a visual for you, the last three on this page: [link]
They come in many colours and variations in my country XD

Oh, the ones with the spots, yes? Those all look handmade, I can see the slightly different shapes of the glass in a couple of them, and the prices of course. They make mass produced similar things here, not as nice, but I do have some glasses with spots all over them downstairs, love them! Thanks for the visual Not for the first time, I wish I knew how to blow glass and make cool stuff like that. Well, you can't do everything in one life...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to misterwackydoodle [2011-11-02 08:56:04 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I went to where they make them once, and these aren't the nicest, sometimes they blend the spots closer like in this painting and with much wilder colours, I like that more!
And I don't know how it works, but I suppose you could design for glass without actually being able to blow it yourself You just have to pass your ideas onto someone who can do it. Would be cool, actually!

I used to know someone who blew glass when I lived in Baltimore. He was saying how it is very dangerous, because you can burn your lungs if you inhale by accident, and people have killed themselves. I agree, would be cool, interesting suggestion. I've always liked to do all my own work at everything I do, but it's not very practical. So, I'm just starting to look at subcontracting, on the advice of my family. There's a couple sites, zazzle.com seems the best I've found so far, that let you put your art on various items. But I wouldn't even know where to begin with glass. Take a look at zazzle if you have time, it's fun, and it's free, to put your art on their items, and if anyone buys them, you make a small percentage. They have international sites, don't know about Denmark, but it mentions they are available in different languages in different countries.

Ohh, my God I don't even think I can manage the thought of accidental inhalation
Really? Zazzle sounds exciting! I will definitely check it out
As for glass - find someone who blows!? *lol* And show them your nice work

misterwackydoodle In reply to LadyChristina [2011-11-02 09:54:42 +0000 UTC]

a lot of art forms are dangerous. neon benders go crazy like hatters from the mercury usually. yeah the inhalation thing sounds horrifying. i'll stick to nice safe oil painting *licks fingers*

LadyChristina In reply to misterwackydoodle [2011-11-02 10:01:03 +0000 UTC]

Neon bending? I haven't heard of it before.
We all are wack to begin with, we're probably just enhanced XD

misterwackydoodle In reply to LadyChristina [2011-11-02 10:06:01 +0000 UTC]

neon, yes those glowy signs that light up are made by hand by bending glass tubes, there's some combination of phosphor, a dust inside the tubes, a gas, which i think is the neon, and electricity, and it makes that light. i actually gave it a go once, my girlfriend in college took a class. the instructor was already getting quite a bit loopy from long term mercury exposure, if her description of him was correct. yeah we're all nutters, you're probably right. i wrote something on my twitter recently, um "i'm not certain i've ever met a sane person, and if i did, i certainly wouldn't trust them"

It sounds crazy! I have seen the signs (NO VANCANCY) but didn't know there were an art form. I am a fan of Chihuly, though, his work is often glass that looks like those neon bended ... things.
Sanity is relative like everything else, indeed

Wonderful, swirling sense of color. Impressionistic in stroke and form if not in palette. A delight to look at.

Thanks, yes, it was fun to paint, a bit different from the way I usually paint because it was rushed for the contest deadline, so a bit more of a challenge to keep it from getting muddy.
