Look at the rest of the drawings in this series...Velma has been dropped off at a haunted house.

Two words: Absolutely Amazing.

It's cool how you drew their original style but added your own twist with the 3D coloring.

Great idea for a scene too.

Two flat tires..accident or maybe someone doesn't want the gang to leave the area?

MJBivouac In reply to Zezlemet [2009-09-27 11:04:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, the idea is that the spare was also flat...what do you expect from a bunch of teens who'd rather spend their money omn burgers and malts rather than getting a tire fixed...?

Go for it. It takes time. But the results can be excellent. You must work much like watercolor, every color and stroke you apply must be right! There is very little room for error.

Golly, this was done with colour pencils??? Very awesome! They all look so three-dimensional, and the lighting is superb. The splotch of sky makes a nice touch.

Where's Velma, by the way? or are they going to meet her?

Check out the REST of this on-going SERIES in my gallery. Velma is on her own in a haunted house, while the gang is way having van problems. Daphne pointing at her watch is indicating that they had agreed to go pick up Velma by a certain time.

I went a little crazy on this drawing. I really got into the technique, the lighting, and the night time scene. The rest in the series aren't quite as finished as this one is. It is being done as a commission for a big Scooby and Velam fan.

Thanks for the comments!

As most deviants pointed out, the shading and the subject are wonderful! I wonder what they are gonna do now?
But I think Fred and Shaggy are not exactly themselves. Daphne is quite recongnizable though.
All in all, it's a nice piece. I wish I could give some depth to my drawings as you do to yours by adding lighting and shading. I'm just too lazy for that!

Ha Ha! I'm sure there is a flock of WB attornies swooping down on me as we speak! But they will have to take it up with the guy who commissioned it. By law, HE is the criminal...I was only hired to do the art. I do work for museums, so I know a little about the laws regarding this sort of thing.

You never cease to amaze me. This really shows off your talent and imagination. I have never really liked ScoobyDoo that much but I love all your twists on the characters. I think it would be really cool if you did just a Scooby Doo villains piece. Maybe one with Thelma or Dafne tied up in the background. LOL. Once again, very cool drawing.

Much of the credit for this series must go to the guy who commissioned it. He and I bounce ideas off each other to come up with the individual images. Ha Ha! Velma and Daphne tied up in their underwear! Good idea, Kinky, I'll have to do that sometime.

I love the lighting on this one, and the way you used the shadows to highlight the characters' faces. I didn't even notice Daphne pointing at her watch until the other deviants pointed it out. SOunds like there is a story behindt his one...(by the way, where's Vel?)

MJBivouac In reply to the-sashimi-frog [2005-03-06 01:37:26 +0000 UTC]

Cathy,
The lighting was very important to this drawing. I really wanted to get that sense of changing a flat by the light of the parking lights. I've never had to do this, but I imagine this is what it would be like.
This drawing is part of a series, and 5 or 6 of the series are already posted in my gallery. They all are pages in a single story, and Velma is alone back at a haunted house. That's why Daphne is worried about the time. She doesn't like having to leave Velma alone at the house.
