I have been trying to learn how to paint more... well... spontaneously, but after 3 failures I was feeling pretty low, so I did this one with a method I was more familiar with from my days painting in oils. The good news is that for once I really did manage to get a good mimic of an oil painting - it has the same depth and sheen and brightness. Which I think is a first for me in acrylics. So that's good at least. But i haven't given up on spontaneous painting yet. I just won't post those pictures.

I'm not sure what it is about this painting, but I love it.
I've seen some of your other paintings, and they are all really, really good, but this one somehow captivates me more than they do. It's something about the picture, not just well painted, but truly great. It has a life beyond the mere canvas and paints. There is soul to this one. When you look at her, she looks back (not in a creepy way!)

Well your practice piece has more feel to it than a lot of the finished stuff that gets posted on here so I don't see you having a problem
