Name: Hypnos
God/Goddess of: Sleep
Symbol(s): The Poppy, the River Lethe, and Cottonwood
Bio: Son of Nyx and Erebus and Twin brother of Thanatos, God of Death. Said to be a calm and gentle god, he governs over the realm of sleep and dreams of the mortals and has even been said to even induce sleep among the gods themselves. One such example being when the Queen of the Gods, Hera who was furious at the birth of the Demigod, Heracles, and as such wanted to make him suffer without Zeus witnessing it. Thus, Hera asked Hypnos put Zeus to sleep while she herself carried on in her task. When finally Zeus woke up, he was so enraged and went on to look for the Sleep God, but by the time he had found him, Hypnos had already returned to the saftey of his mother's realm in the Underworld. Knowing that Hypno's mother, Nyx, was just as, if not more powerful than he was, Zeus inevitably gave up on his revenge and only presented Hypnos with a warning not to try something like this again. This warning, however, turned out to be in vain, for when Hera needed his aid during the Trojan war, he reluctently agreed after much convincing.
