Description Susanoo no Mikoto vs Yamata no Orochi.

Susanoo is the Shinto Kami of storms, ocean, rain and weather. He was born from the nose of the creator god Izanagi. As soon as he was born he wailed out loud and desired to be in company of his mother Izanami, who was then ruling the Underworld. Izanagi was infuriated and banished him to the Underworld, saying “so be it!”.
Before leaving, Susanoo wanted to make a visit to his sister, the goddess of the sun, Amaterasu, who was born from Izanagi’s left eye.
Due to his own sacred power, the sea went violent, and the hills and mountains groaned on his way to his sister’s abode. Assuming that he is coming with an intention to hurt her or rob her of her kingdom , Amaterasu arrayed herself in martial garb. Susanoo proved his intentions was otherwise, and went back on his way saying farewell to his sister.  Attired in a straw hat and raincoat as it was raining continuously, Susanoo stumbled upon an old couple weeping on the banks of the river Hi in Izumo. The great kami enquired as to why they were crying, the couple revealed they were Earthly deities who’ve lost seven of their daughters to a giant eight headed snake Yamata-no-Orochi, an they have only one daughter left, the beautiful Kushinada hime.
Susanoo fell in love with her at the first sight and offered to give them aid. He transformed Kushinadahime into a fine toothed comb and placed her on his august knot of hair in order to lure Orochi. He then set a trap with pots filled with Sake(Japanese rice wine) for the serpent to get intoxicated with.

The mighty serpent Orochi came rushing towards the Sake, and got intoxicated. Not wanting to lose the opportunity, Susanoo slayed the serpent with his mighty ten-spanned sword Totsuka-no-tsurugi by chopping it into pieces. As he neared the tail with his sword, the blade notched a little on the end as it struck something hard. Susanoo noticed that there was another sacred sword Kusanagi-no-tsurugi, and immediately extracted it out from the serpent’s tail.
Thought to himself “This is a divine sword. How I can presume to appropriate it to myself?” He then gave it up to the gods in the heavens.

PS: I know I may not have given a lot of details here, but I’ll do so based on the artwork/scene concerned as I put up new ones in future.

A really lot of details, especially the straw-waistcoat
Do you know the videogame "Okami" has a part of this theme?
Well, in this game, only Amaterasu is a goddess (as a white wolf in the game) and Susano is a descendant of a great warrior called Nagi. He and the "older" Amaterasu fight with Orochi, also with sake. But one day, 100 years later, some guy break the spell and so Orochi is free again. The mission of the player as the reawoken Amaterasu as white wolf is to come to Orochi and to clean the world from his death spell. Susano is in this story a clumsy swordsman, but in the end, he shows his real potential and defeat Orochi with Amaterasu.
I thought this could be interessting for you...
Yeah maybe the game tells the original story different, but I like it anyway...

It's amazing the lengths some guys will go to to impress a girl... say like fighting a giant, drunken, multi-headed snake in the middle of a rainstorm and chopping it to pieces.  All Zeus ever did was turn into a swan.
