Description The three goddesses, grief-stricken with the downfall of Hyrule, drowned the land with their tears in order to put a halt to the destruction, allowing the land to slowly heal and begin anew.

Here's my entry for 's calendar contest for The History of Hyrule! I've always wanted to draw my interpretation of the three Goddesses, and lately I've been very much inspired by Indian mythology, which really helped me along with this piece. I started working on this back in June, and after working on it on and off, I'm happy it's finally done!

I love the style! I think it would be cool to see the OoT cutscene animated in this style!

The style here fits in very well with the Wind Waker style, very swirly and beautifully bright. Although the brightness doesn't take away from the somber feeling of the piece

wow, this looks beautiful. I never really looked at the flooding of Hyrule quite like this...

Did you use photoshop to do this?

This is incredible, I love the style! As one of the other commenters said, it really does feel like a historical marker.

I'm fairly new to deviant, is there any way of getting a copy? I'd love to have this piece on my wall

This is heart wrenching... to think that the goddesses... esentially the mothers of the land of hyrule had to seal away a good portion of their "children" to contain an evil they themselves let run rampant...

The detail here is astounding... and if one focuses on the pic long enough they can hear the slight sound of weeping...

Thank you, I'm so happy that you enjoyed this piece. I really wanted to capture their sadness here, and your explanation is exactly what I was imagining when I drew it

SetraPermafrost [2013-03-27 20:22:15 +0000 UTC]

This is breathing taking. The flat colors and stylistic lines makes this look like a painting to commemorate an actual event. I don't know if that makes any sense, but those factors make this painting feel 'real' like it was a part of my own history. Amazing work.

It totally makes sense! I wanted it to look like it would have been painted in a textbook or on the wall of a temple or something. Thank you very much

Great artwork! A wonderful interpretation of that part of Hyrule's history. I always wonder how the three goddesses may look like You did a great job as it really feels like a mosaic depicting the legend of the sorrow of the goddesses

I remember having seen a wip of it in the forum. I actually expected the final piece to look very different(but I cannot remember how) but I'm glad to see the final piece.
I love the stylization and the Lineart. I think the flat colors fit the picture well, shading wouldn't have fit.
I also love the mix of big surfaces and detailed parts like the waves, their belts. I would've loved to do a similar piece too but you did it already so well ^^
Gorgeous artwork!

I love this! The flat style, the swirling waves and hair... the limited palette...

It looks like something one might see in an ancient temple, as a mural, mosaic or tapestry.

Such a unique style you have, both lineart and coloring. Love this, the pouring onto the earth is really neat looking, all those swirls, must've taken a long time. Amazing work
