My own cat come's from a shelter and I never regretted it. Sure, he's kind of useless at being a cat and sucks at even the most basic of feline behavior (I have never heard of a cat before whom is afraid of rodents or likes veggies prior to getting Sam.), but he's still an adoreble compagnion, especially when I'm working on a project at night and he cuddles up against me :3

Aww, he's a little fur baby! Kitties are so precious. I plan to adopt a dog or cat (maybe both) someday, but right now I don't live in a place that allows furry critters. I have fish, though. They're my little fish babies! Did you know there are goldfish adoption websites? Unfortunately, no one seems to use them very often.

This is a whole other issue that needs more attention, the overpopulation of domestic animals. Did you know some parents get their pets pregnant to show their kids 'the miracle of birth' and later attempt to sell or abandon the offspring. Sick. It also makes me angry so many families consider shelter animals unfit or not 'good enough' to be adopted. Only breeding yet another litter into the world is an option.
All my pets are rescues. My two cats were starving abandoned kittens. One I found six years ago in an abandoned meth house, the other I recently found in my parking lot during a thunder storm. People who are evicted often leave inconveniences like pets behind.
I cleaned them up and took them to the vet and then home.

I have seen pet stores that get all of their cats and dogs from animal shelters.

Yep! Well, not all shelters fix and chip their animals, but a lot do. Most fix them. My dog was fixed when I got her. I miss her. She was 16 when she died.

I'm sorry for your lose, but it's good she lived that long. That's another good thing about fixing, animals that are fixed live longer. Any cat I get I plan on getting from PAWS or NOAH so I don't have to worry about heat cycles or fixing.

I still have dreams that she's still around and I'm just forgetting to feed her...
People tell me that virgins don't live as long as people who have sex all the time, but I think that's a load of hokey. I see no evidence for it, and evidence to the contrary in the animal world. Sorry, that's one of my hot spots, I guess.

Aww! Kitties! I'd love to adopt cat(s), but people in my family are allergic. We adopted a dog when I was a kid and it turned out almost everyone in the family was allergic to her, except maybe me, but we still loved her and kept her until she passed away at 16 years old. She was the best dog ever, even if she was a little bit bone-headed sometimes, lol!

But seriously, euthanasia is murder, whether on humans or animals. And those healthy animals deserve to live.

Thanks! I think the puppy might actually be in the front. I made it in PowerPoint a bunch of years ago, so I don't remember exactly what order all the layers are in. The edge fading is a little clumsy either way.

Apparently contraceptive pills have made new stride and longer lasting. A country could control street animals at a minute fraction of neutering costs.
