Here he gets to just be a good person who questions rumours he has some insight in, and tells people to stop being A-holes or he won't hang out with them any more.
Not quite as Heroic but still extremely swoon-worthy.
No he doesn't know Esme heard him, that be waaay less swoon-inducing.
