In 1986 it was decided that a new field service uniform should be up for adoption within the Soviet Armed Forces. The initial result was the experimental Obr1986 design for VDV, Spetsnaz, and other Special Troops. It was at first introduced in khaki, and then in camouflage, which was named 'Tritsvetnaia Kamuflirovannaia Odezhda,' or TTsKO. The uniform would only be issued to Special Troops, with the TTsKO variant being more commonly seen until the issue of the Obr1988 variant. The uniform is seen to be worn with either Sapogi (Jackboots) or Botinki (Jump Boots) and was worn with a blue and white-striped Telnyashka. For Everyday Dress a beret was worn, yet for field service a helmet or matching Kepi was worn.
This uniform saw use up through the First Chechen War.
