I'm not deaaaad ! I survived the exams xD Sorry I had to abandon you. It had been a tough week and I was in a bad mood so I drew a sad thing.I have 3 days of vacations before going back to the university (though I don't know if i'll be able to go there...it's snowing so much O___o )
I had that scene in my head for a while. It takes place not long after Galadriel left for Valinor. Celeborn is reigning alone as King of East Lorien. But he grew weary of that situation and this is when he decides to go to Rivendell (those who read the books may understand).
I hope you like it...
Gotta go, I have many things to do xD ... like sleeping

Poor Celeborn. This is so sad, but so pretty. . . . I like that the only vibrant color is in his eyes, and that everything else is dark. I wish Tolkien had written about their reunion.

in the movies only...in the book only Galadriel left with Frodo, Gandalf and Elrond. Celeborn stayed becaus ehe was too deeply attached to Middle Earth and also because he needed to take care of the elves remaining there... after only few years, he grew weary of his new realm and went to dwell in Rivendell with his grandsons and eventually sails
it gives something deeper to their relationship somehow...I find this parting sad but I think that if it had not happened, I would not have liked the pairing this much

Oh I didn't know that! It does give them more depth! Rather beautiful and tragic. At lest it comes out right in the end though.

Do they ever get reunited? I don't remember what happens after Galadriel goes to the Undying lands.

Yes it is pretty sure that he finnaly left and joined his wife and his daughter. In the LoTR's prologue we can read "It is said that Celeborn went to dwell there [Rivendell] after the departure of Galadriel; but there is no record of the day when he at last sought the Grey Heavens, and with him went the last living memory of the Elder Days in Middle-Earth"

I agree, I'm glad he left but that's what made the end of LoTR trilogy soooooo sad it is not a happy end after all. That's probably why I really loved the saga.
Even the 4th Age, as joyous and bright as it was announced, does not seem to have the brilliance of those, more painful, that preceded it.
The epilogue has a bitter taste because it leads us inexorably to ourselves. Whatever our past, the greatness, we will be stripped of all because of being mortal.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I remember being kinda depressed and wistful when I finished the trilogy and the movies ended. I wanted to live in the Shire where everything seemed so simple and beautiful and peaceful. But I guess the best we can do is appreciate the books, appreciate our history, and appreciate the beauty in the world that still exists.

c'est magnifique, si triste et facile à imaginer en vrai. Je veux dire qu'on peut voir la scène comme un film se dérouler. Pas esoin de parole et pourtant on ressent comme il est las.
