Description
When: October 21, 2018
Where: Zie-ZOO Volkel, The Netherlands
The male Dusky Pademelon has quite the different face and body as opposed to the female. While she is cute-and-pretty, he's cute-and-funny.
He didn't really know what to make of us, and pair that with the presence of a joey, he made for an iimpressive sight like this.
Species: Dusky Pademelon or Wallaby (De Bruijnpademelon)
Latin name: Thylogale Brunii
Originates from the Papua province of Indonesia and Papua-New Guinea.
Current status: Vulnerable
Did you know:
…The Dusky Pademelon was named after a Dutch painter, Cornelis de Bruijn, who first described it in the second volume of his “Travels” in 1711. There, he labeled his description with a name then current: Philander. A later common name for the Dusky Pademelon is Aru Island Wallaby.
