The cast line up from the dubious writefaggotry I indulged in recently. [link]L-R:
Lt. Daneel Calliban, Commissar Jaes "Jellyfish" Quallen, Lt Den, Commissar Conrad F Raege, Major Duggan, S.P Jonquil "Cuddles" Lancaster.
Somethin' to do while I wait for the bus.
I feel I should point out, as there is occasionally confusion about such matters, that I did NOT invent Commissar jellyfish.
In a thread, maybe a little over a year ago, on /tg/ some cosplay of a commissar with medium blonde hair was posted and he was quickly agreed upon as the least intimidating commissar ever. One who could never get anyone to toe the line, and whose orders were punctuated with ums and ers. But who was "looked after" by his troops, and was always at the front of things.
I like the idea very much and didn't want it to slip to far into obscurity, so I wrote a story follow up to the concept.

Nah, that's not the guy that started it.
A big factor was, rather unfairly, the guy pretty obviously wasnt ready to get his picture taking he had his weapon down and an incredibly relaxed, benign expression.

By the way, from the thumbnail, I at first thought that both the Catachans had their arms around Commissar Raege's waist, and was about to type in a whole essay's worth of nonsense about how awesome I thought that was.

Well, I would have to admit finding the hinted at situation of Raege being 'close' to both a male and female Catachan to have been distinctivly erotic.
... Yeah, anyway, I was away at a T.A training Camp 2 weeks of realising just how unfit I am. Heh. So I'll be checking back on your art n stuff now.

I love your ensemble casts!
I, too caught the Flashman vibe from Calliban, although without the bullying aspect. He seems like he embodies the arrogant Victorian/Praetorian vibe perfectly, although with an aura of competance.
Commissar Quallen - I remember the cosplayer who you're referring to. Also, I caught a hint of Rincewind (Pratchett's "Discworld" novels) from him, too. Rincewind is also incompetant, although you'll never catch him voluntarily at the front of ANYTHING. *grins* Quallen doesn't, by chance, have an abulatory sea-chest that follows him around, does he? *grins*
Lt. Den - Oh dear... As stated above: "Dat Everything" *Drools*
Love the idea for the Catachan "Whoopass" Tea. Suits them right perfectly, I think. Also, Raege = awesome here. Nicely dynamic pose.
Major Duggan seems to be the sort who'll kick your ass at either a wrestling match or a game of chess. Don't know why I thought that last piece. Just seems there's more to him than just beef.
Cuddles is, as always, awesome and adorable.
All in all, nicely done!

I see what you mean about cuddles, but shes not mean have brows here, its just a mixture of the notches on her eyes, and my sloppy line work. Nice idea though.
